No sound from bluetooth speaker but device is connected.

Hello i am having problems with no sound coming out of my Bluetooth speaker (Exibel bdx1400) when connected with my Z5 Compact. It works perfectly fine with iPhone, Huawei, etc but not from my phone or my friends Samsung. The devices gets paired up and there is an APTX message poping up on my phone (connected to a device that supports APTX) and on the speaker display.
I have no problems getting sound out of my other bt devices such as the UE Boom and JBL Charge 2.

Does anyone know what might be causing this? It's really frustrating.

Thanks in advance.

Hi @hansy90,

Welcome to the community. I am sorry to hear about your issue. Slightly_frowning_Face

Based on the information you have provided it sounds like this particular speaker is not compatible with the Z5 Compact and the Samsung device you tested. If that is the case, I am afraid there is nothing we can do.

What you can try however, is resetting the Smart Connect app. To do this go to Settings > Apps > Smart Connect > Force Stop > Storage > Clear Data, then restart your phone.

I also recommend you test the phone in safe mode and see if the same thing happens.

Thanks for your reply, but sadly it did not do the trick. I thought as long as it got connected it should all be good.
Do i need to have "throw" enabled?

@hansy90,

Throw is for linking your phone to throw enabled devices, for example a TV so you can use it as a remote control for YouTube. It is not necessary for what you are trying to achieve.

It would appear to me that in this instance, there is nothing wrong with either the speaker or the phone, but the two devices are simply not compatible. Slightly_frowning_Face

I apologise for the inconvenience.

Alright, it is what it is. Never experienced this before. It won't be a problem getting a refund for the speaker anyways.
Thanks again! Slightly_smiling_Face

@hansy90,

With so many different variations of hardware it is not possible to test all of them, so it happens sometimes. I'm glad you have a resolution, good luck Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi,

I'm having the same problem and have tried with numerous different Bluetooth speakers (including Sony brand and speakers used by another Xperia user). My z5 connects fine but no music plays. The problem is not that the speakers aren't compatible with Xperia nor that my Bluetooth is not working. The phone works fine through my car Bluetooth.

Can you please provide more advice on how to address this issue?

Thanks
