My Sony Xperia Z won't start /turn on after failed update attempt

So ,I have this problem now .Today I received a mesage from Sony telling to plug my phone to the computer in order to check if the new update was available for my phone .

I plugged my phone ,but completely forgot to check the charge status .Then I got a call while the phone was plugged on the computer and PCCompanion was dowloading the update .

It told me the update failed .

So I unplugged my phone ,then plugged it again and restarted the whole update process .It went through and told me the update failed once again .I unplugged ,then put my phone off .And plugged it back to the computer to try the update again .

A third attempt which didn't go through .

So after these three attempts ,I unplugged it to the computer and put it to charge on the wall then tried turning it on .

Here's my problem : The LED is red ,the SONY logo appears on my screen ,and then the phone just goes off .

It does this repeatedly whle the phone is on charge .I'm looking at it right now ,it's plugged on the wall charge ( not the dock ) and it keeps showing the red LED ,then the SONY logo ,and goes off .

What should I do ?

Hi,
I had the same problem with my xperia z1. I tried to update my phone but keeps on crashing showing the same warning "update failed, make sure yor phone is connected to the computer then try again" I guess my battery was below 50% when I performed the update.

I tried the SUS and PC companion repair to fix the problem but didn't work.
I did everything and I decided to bring my phone to Sony Service Center but my brother offered to fix it.

Actually, he did the same thing using PC companion repair. The only difference is that I was using a 1mbps internet before and he has a 3mbps internet. His 1st attempt didn't work because we were watching youtube videos that time then the laptop crashed and restarted. Then he tried again with no other applications running. And it worked! So I think the problem really was the internet connection.

Now I feel relieved. My phone is now updated to version 14.4.A.0.108. All I have to do now is to set it to my previous settings since it has restored to factory settings.

Hope this helps.

To perform a system repair - This will factory reset your phone

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

Hi All,

I am having terrible issues with my xperia Z, its slow in every way. USB point has no indication about the right side of inserting the chager and sometimes I ed up inserting the charger in wrong way, as a result phone used to shut down and then I had to restart. But today I inserted the charger in wrong way, phone got switched off and not is it not starting, not even charging. I have tried force restart ( ON + Vol up button) , even this is not working.  It is all black screen, this is so frustrating, pls help me what should I do Slightly_frowning_Face
