Music playing through BT pauses when switching between apps

Hi.

Xperia Z5 Compact.

I am experiencing issues when I play music. The music pauses for 1 - 2 seconds when I play musing through BT devices and swithing between apps or sometimes just hitting the home or app switcher butting.

Repro steps:

  1. Connect BT Jabra Headset or UE Boom speaker to the phone (tested with two BT devices with same result)
  2. I play cached music from Google Music (or Radio FM app). Again same result when playing musing from different apps.
  3. Start switching between open apps.
  4. Music pauses for 1-2 seconds when switching between apps or opening new apps. It happens intermittently, but very often.

I am not experiencing the issue if I play music using corded headphones or listening music on phone speaker.

I tried to contact Sony Support, but the support is very bad. Is there anyone in Sony who can provide professional support on this issue.

Anyone from comunity who is experincing the problem?

I have 3 other phones (Nexus 6, HTC, Nexus 5) and dont experience the problem on any of these while using same apps.

Thank you.

I would like to confirm that after running software repair (reloading the software) I have not been experiencing the same issues for a week now. The phone seems to be faster and more responsive.

Process:

Before you begin, you will need to install Xperia Companion from the Sony Xperia website, the application is available for both OSX and Windows based systems. You can download each from the following links:

Windows/PC - http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/xperia-companion/

OSX/Mac - http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/xperia-companion-mac/

Once installed to then perform a repair on your handset’s software, please follow the steps below, making sure that at the start of the process the device is turned off and disconnected from the computer:

  1. Open Xperia Companion
    2. Click Software Repair
    3. Some on screen steps will now appear for you to follow. Please do not connect the handset until you are prompted to do so.
    4. When you are asked to connect the handset (still with the phone powered off) please press and hold the key stated on screen for 30 seconds before connecting the handset and keep it held down as you connect
    5. The repair process should now begin.

Please ensure your handset is not connected to your system when performing the above as you will be instructed to connect your handset once you have followed the above steps. Your handset must also remain powered off at all times.

Please note it may be the case that user data is lost during this upgrade. We therefore recommend backing up any data to your SIM card, Memory Stick, or system before upgrading.

Hi,

I followed advise from someone on xda-forums and just restarting ot safe mode and back seems to resolved the issue. I was not reproduce the issue after the restart to safe mode. I will continue to monitor the situation.

Thanks all for help.

So the issue is not resolved. I think this is related to the performance of the phone or BT, because I am not experiencing the same problem on Nexus 6 or HTC phone.

I don't think that Sony will do anything about it either. Like any other big manufacture they are simply not interested in fine tuning their phones (except Apple).

In general, I am disapointed. I thought this phone will perform fine, but when one starts using it the problems starts popping up.

Hi.

I reproduced the issue with Sony Music app. Actaully I can reproduce the problem very easily. The biggest dissapointment so far is Sony support. They are trying to take their hands off this issue. I believe that they didn't even try to reproduce the issue.

Is there any way I can escalate the problem to Sony top management?

To clarify the issue again: Music playing throught BT devices pauses for tens of second when switching between diferent apps. There is no problem when playing musing through corded headphones or using speaker on the phone. Also I don't experience the problem on Nexus 6 or HTC phone.

Thanks
