Hi,
My messaging app occasionally freezes after I have sent a message. The message I have just sent appears at the top of the conversations list as a draft and the "sending message" box shows across the middle. This goes on, leaving messaging unavailable, until I restart the phone. When I have restarted the phone the message is sent and there is an additional draft of exactly the same message.
Any ideas what is causing this?
Matt

I suggest that you clear the messaging apps data to resolve this issue.
Menu > Settings > Apps > All > Messaging > Clear data
Make sure to backup your messages just incase.
I hope this helps.

In this case, I would suggest performing a software repair on the device. Please see the instructions below.
1. Before you start you have to download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Once installed on your PC, double-click the PC Companion icon on your desktop to start the update.
Note! For some models you will be prompted to do a backup prior to the update and then restore.
3. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
4. Phone Software Update.
5. Start.
6. Repair Phone
7. Continue
8. Accept data removal
9. Next
10. Wait for prepare
11. Select Phone
12. Follow the connection steps
I hope this helps.
My messaging is freezing also, did a software repair only to find it wiped my phone. Why call it a repair when it is a reset, at least if I had of known it would reset I could have written down all the software I had installed. Also why is it only now that it happened when I have had the phone for almost a year and before it a Sony Z3, this will be the last Sony phone I purchase. I used to think you guys were pretty much the best but boy how wrong I was.
By the way, wiping my phone did nothing to fix the problem so you cannot blame 3rd party applications
Hi guys.
I have the Sony XZ, and this works for me.
(Sorry for my English, i'm French 😛 )
Step 1 : Go to Settings -> Application -> Messaging App
Step 2 : Stop and desactivate the app
Step 3 : Reactivate
Step 4 :
Step 4 : Open the messaging app
Step 5 : Say "YES" to change messaging app
It works for me and friends who have same trouble, i hope it will work.
Cya
This hasn't helped in my case. I'm going to try a third party messaging app for a bit, this is crappy.
