Charging dock gives a less output than a regular AC/DC USB Adapter so that might be a cause. The problem is annoying when charging directly thru AC/DC You cannot charge the phone to 100% or it takes more than 7 hours.
I think that charging software has changed in 5.0.2 Lolllipop, or a process that controls over charge safety program.
I've got the same problem after the Lollipop update on my Xperia Z2. In the first instance on the magnetic dock it would not charge past 85% where it would do nothing but flash a green light.
With the cable I can charge to 95% but it's just annoying that my phone won't charge properly.
I reinstalled the OS through the PC Companion, I've done a hard reset through the red button next to the SIM card and nothing has worked. I am considering sending it back under warranty.
UPDATE: Fixed by using the official Sony USB cable with the magnetic charger that came with the phone (I didn't realise I was using an old cable from a HTC phone). A bit annoyed that I now have to buy more, official Sony USB cables to ensure my phone charges properly and to prevent corrupted data when connecting to the PC. Especially seeing as the Sony cables are nowhere near long enough for my needs.
Please note my phone had also undergone a factory reset and other than logging into PSN, I did not log into my Google account so no apps were restored at this point, but I did achieve a 100% charge. I am restoring the phone now and will try charging again when the battery has run down enough.
Hmm... changing USB cord doesn't make any sense to me... I had this issue, and I never charged my phone with anything else than given by sony in the box, anyway the device was replaced for new one, and the new Z2 works great on my old charger and old usb cable, so where is the issue, what was wrong with my old Z2 (14W12) that isn't wrong with fresher Z2 (14W55) ? New motherboard, redesigned charging section? new condensators? I will probably never get to know that and die with this mystery in mind. ;-D
In some cases changing the power cord helps, in others a clean setup helps in others nothing helps... Hard to think that Lollipop can be so different on same devices.
Hi, greetings from a newcomer
device: z3 compact D5883 15W10
I got this bug right after upgrading to lollipop 5.0.2 at monday morning singaporean time. --- not going bashing sony though, really, it's happen right after upgrade.
At first it doesn't concern me too much, as long as my device only capped at 80%-85% and till now still able to maintain 1-2 days battery with normal usage.
But, what i'm afraid of is when the charge-discharge blinking thing happen. Won't it will add cycle to the battery and increase the wear level of it? Really i fear the battery will wear more than unable to get 100% of charge.
Some my colleague able to upgrade safely, some another bugs. But i still think that this should be some sort of software problem. Another question is why the bugs occured differently in different device that still in same model.
Really hope that Sony will fix it soon along the release of 5.1 to OTA
Regards..
Any news on this please?
Have you replicated or seen the issue?
ETA on a fix?
Suggested workaround (For the Magnetic Dock)
A bit of informaiton would be nice :smileysmileywink:
Sony released new update ( Build 23.1.A.1.28) for Xperia z2. I hope new update will solve the charging bug.:smileysmileythumbsup:
Update: Even after updating to 23.1.A.1.28 , the problem didn't resolve.
I'm using DK48 with the stock charger and cable from my phone. Please have this addressed immediately. We don't want to overuse the USB doors.
