Keypad in phone calls

When I make a call my z5 premium screen goes black how do I get a visible keyboard and number pad so I can input numbers for menu choices plus I would also like to see call timespan choose speaker phone thanks in advance

You need to check the proximity sensor for any dirt or grease as it is very sensitive. Clean it if that's the case. Also, a thick screen protector can cause this.

Thanks for your reply it's a brand new phone and I don't have a screen protector yet. Also where is the proximity sensor?

It's on the upper right side of the display.
