Is it OK to charge z5 with psvita charger?

Just asking because I am using it and seems to be working okay so far but I'm worried if it will damage the battery on the phone or not? Someone have any insight? I bought this phone recently and the charger that came in the box was a really weird one like something you use in another country!

Hi @Alumni,

Welcome to the community.

While we would recommend you use the official charger, because it uses a standardised Micro USB charger, any Micro USB charger should work fine and not cause any damage to your phone.

Please be aware however that Sony Mobile cannot be held responsible for any potential damage using a non-approved charger may cause should anything go wrong.

Thanks, the charger that came with the phone is something called the uch20 quick charger. I have no idea how to use it, can anyone please explain to me?

@Alumni,

Based on the information you provided earlier it seems like the charger you received is for an international outlet. I would advise against using it as it may not support the correct voltage for your country.

It's the official Sony uch20 quick charger, guess you need to buy an adapter for it. Came in the Sony box with my z5. Never even knew about it before, just caught me off guard because it looked so strange and not like a typical wall charger.

I guess I have to order an official Sony wall charger for my z5 now. Any suggestions on with exact model I need to get for it?

@Alumni,

As I mentioned earlier, any micro USB charger should be fine as it is standardised, we just cannot guarantee third party products is all.

If you do want a Sony one, there's no specific model you should be looking for. The UCH-20 will be fine for your purposes, just make sure it supports your wall sockets.

USA uses 110 volts and the rest of the world uses between 220 and 240 volts so it's not ideal to use a simple adapter in most cases.
