Hello,
I tried to use PC Companion to update Xperia Compact Z1. I tried to use USB connection as well as WiFi; but neither would work. I tried it on
several PC's and using several USB cables. So I suspect that the problem resides in my phone. The PC Companion issues a message
"PC Companion was not able to connect to the phone/tablet. Please disconnect and connect again". However, no matter how many times I
performed the requested operation the result was the same. Does anyone have an idea what is wrong?

Hello,
Thanks for the replies. I think I solved the problem. PC Companion was able to connect after I changed USB connection mode to MTP.

Does it connect at all or is it just when you try to update and what operating system are you using?
Hi bostjanv,
Does the PC see the phone? or is it only PC Companion that cannot see the device.
Hello,
Thanks for the reply. The PC does have a folder "Xperia Z1 Compact System Folder" under "Computer"; but when I try to connect PC Companion issues
a message "could not find phone/tablet". As I wrote in my original post I tried this with several computers, and several USB cables, and the result was
the same. Connection with WiFi also did not work. The operating system on my current PC is 64-bit Windows-7.

Does PC Companion see the handset is you change the connection mode?
Menu > Settings > Xperia > Connectivity > USB Connectivity > Change to MSC mode.
