@stenbocken I will like to agree with you 95% that the lollipop upgrade draines more out of the battery life than previous. Usually before now, a full charge @100% takes me through the day (exclusive of games+music) but since the upgrade, had to get my phone charged like twice a day to take me through despite several restarts. I think there's need for some correctional patches to this Lag.

Hello RohitTech, I noticed a couple months u complained about a battery drain issue for your Sony xperia. Did u ever find a solution to your problem? I have the same issue with my z1 compact, where the battery drains and/or does at 50 percent. Ive tried everything. I used PC companion, which didn't work. My problem started about 3 weeks ago. I was on KitKat 4.4.4 and I have since updated to lollilop using PC companion. It seems lime my problem has gotten worse. Did u ever fix your battery drain issue?

Well, I have a Z2, came here looking for a solution to the battery problem.......

..... and my next stop is now the Samsung store.

13 pages and 0 solutions, other that a Sony recommendation to reinstall (which doesn't fix anything, but does stop you complaining on the forums for a few hours while you try it...) And some uliwooly idiot who just keeps reposting the exact same thing - spamming for reputation I assume.

No Sony acknowledgment that it's a real issue.

No actual fix (sort of below).

Appears that I can't rollback without a) some phone hacking, or b) paying someone to do it for me.

First and last Sony product for me.

(p.s. amusing anecdotal evidence: I commute 90m into Sydney CBD by train. In the last few weeks, I've seen about 10 people using sony xperias, and 7 of them had external batteries plugged in. (I assume there's hundreds of xperia users, but most of their phones were flat already)

My Z2 (only 1 year old) runs 3 days on KitKat, but on Lollipop  I was happy to make it trough the day.

After rooting and going back to KitKat all is fine again (losing the DRM and dedicated camera functions in the process...thanks Sony!!!)

@Dashiva: buying another Android with lollipop doesn't solve your problem. It is a core Lollipop issue and all phones running that piece of crap are having battery issues.

1. Google 'promised' they solved it in Marshmellow (next version of Android). Z2 and newer are said to receive it.

2. Sony and other phone makers should put much more presure on Google to solve this.

Until then: wait for Marshmellow and keep your fingers crossed.

I guess my problem is different. My battery draining issue started with KitKat 4.4.4. I upgraded to Lollipop using PC companion, but my problem has gotten only slightly worse. Battery still going g from %60 to dead. And charging from %20 to %90 in seconds. Sony please give us a solution

I have discovered one thing that for sure drains my battery fast as I normally turn on and off WIFI for when I need to be online or not with the phone:

If I turn off WIFI when some app or Android itself are using it, it seems like something  hangs or is awake continously- draining the battery. Easy noticable in the graph showing battery-usage, a steep curve downwards and I easily loose up to 10% pr hour.

If I wait/only turn Off the WIFI when I see no activity on the wifi-icon, everything is fine and the battery usage graph shows a normal slightly declining curve in idle, giving me 3-4+ days of usage.

This I can replicate pretty easy on my handset.

However, no app shows up in the Battery Usage section for using that power/powerdrain, so I assume it is an internal Android process.

(Of course, Stamina mode ON, Xperia Facebook disabled, etc, etc.)

hi, bought z3+ last month in begining every thing was normal, with full charge battery estimated life was 3 days and with stamina mode on expected life shown was 4 days or so, after updating to latest lolipop version , it all started, i tried to fix problem with factory reset . tried  it twice and it worked every time  basically because it reverted my phone back to previous version of lolipop, and after update it again started to drain with 3 times speed. Android OS being major culprit.

when is Sony going to fix this BUG.

Greetings, have a xperia z, firstly after updating from kitkat 4.4.4 which was after all satisfactory regarding battery consumption, loudness, etc compered to Lollipop 5.02. aside of the only camera performance improvement the battery consumption got significantly worse not to mention with the followed up 5.1.1 and with it the camera performance weakened again Please could anyone from Sony tell me since there wont be any Android M 6.0 for xperia z handsets if there be any upgrade to 5.1.1 to fix the battery issues, loudness,. I can not supress my disappointment related to every single time allegedely performance improvements announcements. If there will not be any additional release, i will be considering either kitkat again or another Phone, brand, because to me this is shameful to have 50% less battery performance, which makes your product unenjoyable for use. Thank you in advance for your response
