Alarm doesn't turn off

Alarm doesn't turn off

When my alarm rings in the morning (or any other time in fact) the screen becomes completely unresponsive, meaning I cannot use the slider to turn it off. The only solution I have found is to push the power button repeatedly try to get to the normal lock screen (which is also unresponsive at first) and mess around until that lets me unlock the phone go to the settings screen and turn the alarm off. Or simply reset the phone. This is a horrible way to wake up in the morning.

I have tested the alarm after turning off the Smart Connect "Night" setting, and I have also deleted all the clock app data, but the problem persists.

The alarm clock worked fine at first - it happened a couple of times, but has now happened for the last four mornings in a row or whenever I test the alarm during the day.

Does anyone know what's going on?

It is so strange! Took the cover off at the weekend, reset the phone and set an alarm in the morning. Ever since then the phone has been totally fine. So i would advise if people are using these covers and are having problems to remove them.  Can't believe a silly little case caused this much much.

Such a happier Sony user now though!

set side keys behavior to dismiss..see it will cut off alarm or not

Try what Danial-mach1 suggested. Otherwise, I suggest that you boot your phone into safe mode to see if you experience the same behaviour:

I have just restarted the phone in safe mode and tested the alarm and the problem remained, except this time phone went a little strange. Once I had managed to get to the pattern unlock screen the dots wouldn't connect properly (I have actually seen this before breifly) and once in the drop down setting menu was opening and closing by itself.

Re Danial's solution, this may work, but since the phone is under a month old the touch screen should be working fine. I would prefer a solution that gets the phone working as it was intended.

Is there anything else you can think of. I would rather not go through the hassle of sending it back.

Cheers

In this case I suggest that you perform a software repair on your phone via Update Service:
http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update-service/
Download and install SUS to your PC, follow the instructions that appear.

Note that when you perform this software repair, your personal data will be lost. Don't forget to make a back up before.

Yep, same problem here. For me its just a few days old phone and the problem is there. To this point I have changed my phone 2 times so this is my 3rd phone (same phone from same store, pink). And I have the problem again.

It starts from the alarm problem and it goes to the touch screen problem. I really don't know what to do anymore..

I've asked to get phone from a different patch and hope it works.. I really want this model and I've waited it for really long 😕

If someone know where  this really bad problem is coming from, then please, post a comment to this thread :"D

I've also tried putting the side key to do the work, but nope. Nada. Nothing happens, it just shuts the screen and the alarm goes on.

Exactly the same with me.

Had my phone 3 days or so?

And i have had touch problems using:

- The security pattern

- The snooze and alarm buttons

The phone goes totally unresponsive!

I have now switched off the pattern secuirty to see if it was that and also removed the alarm from the Task Killer?

Moved from an iPhone to an android device and really hope this doesnt put me off - so good so far...

If anyone finds a solution please let me know - would be nice to use the pattern security option...

Last night I repaired the software (which basically means factory resetting it and reinstalling the software) and awoke this mornign to an alarm that switched off when I asked it to. HOWEVER, after the alarm stopped, the phonestarted to behave exactly like statchana showed in the video. I restarted the phone and it appeared to go away, but that on top0 of the total hassle of reinstalling the software - spending all today trying to restore the messages (no in build app) and reorganising everything makes me very worried.

I am very close to taking it back to the shop. What is going on??

Its so strange, i went to show my friend and set a test alarm and it worked fine, but when i set the alarm for the next day ( so the phone isnt active for a while), again its unresponsive. I activated the snooze buttons on the side of the phone which worked BUT after this my phone started going wild like the video above.

I am really concerned and think an uodate needs to be issued if this is happening when people are have 2 or more replacements.

EDIT* People having this issue use the Roxfit case? I do and seen the following post and going to test this now:

Hmm. That is odd. How could the plastic cover make that problem.
Its really hard to belive, as I think I said before, my bf has the same phone AND the same roxfit cover and still, nothing.
His phone is working just fine 😕

But hey, fi u try it and the problems goes away then reply here Grinning_Face im interested also about this.
Meanwhile I try something else and keep a log about it. Hope I can think something out, as Sony seems to be too busy with kit kat update to see this problem 😕 which is sad, because the alarm clock problem makes some phones act really crazy after occuring few times.
