Xperia XZ2 Ear speaker distorting/buzzing on calls

Bought my first device over a month ago from Amazon and initially had the bottom speaker crackling issue that other users have reported. This resolved itself by either the latest Android update  or removal/re-insertion of the sim card tray.

Since I got the device though I have noticed a distortion/buzzing through the ear speaker at low frequencies when on a call (like the other person is speaking too close to there microphone)

This happens on all calls and I tried a different sim from another network to rule out network issues.

I reported the issue to Amazon and they sent a replacement but this had an excessively loose volume rocker so they sent another replacement and this has the buzzing/distortion issue in the ear speaker but at at a different frequency to the first device and it happens when any notification sound plays through the top speaker.

However crazy it sounds, when I was testing the second replacement I removed the sim card tray and played a notification and it was distorted/crackling -  I then blew sharply into the open sim card slot and played the same notification sound and it was crystal clear :smileyplain:. After less than a minute it started to distort again. I repeated this several times and each time I blew into the open sim card slot the sound was perfect and then after playing the sound after a minute it became distorted again.

Anyone have any ideas? Is blowing into the sim card slot temporarily inflating the speaker membrane?

After three faulty devices my only option is to live with it or return for a refund.  I really like the device but surely the speakers should be perfect given it's £600 + cost.

Thanks.

Could someone try the following link and let me know the results? When I play this video with media volume at max, I am getting crackling/distortion somewhere between 100 - 200hz from the top speaker. This is the same distortion I am experiencing through the top speaker when on a phone call. Bottom speaker is fine. I have tested on my old Z5 and there is no distortion through the top or bottom speaker when playing the same video.

Many thanks.

Would be grateful if someone could try the video frequency test and let me know if their ear speaker distorts/crackles.

Many thanks
