USB OTG not working on Xperia XZ

I have several micro USB memories, and I wanted to use them on my brand new XZ so I got a USB C to micro USB adapter.

But it is not working at all. I tried with several memories and with an USB mouse, all of them verified to work on my previous Xperia T with no problem.

I connect the USB C to micro USB adapter and then the memory to the phone, and click on "Detect USB device". After a while the result is always the same: "No USB device detected".

I tested the USB C to micro USB adapter conecting the phone to a PC and it worked fine.

Am I doing something wrong?

I own an Xeria XZ with android 7.0 (39.2.A.0.417)

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Efg1,

Welcome to the community. Try restarting your phone with the OTG connected.

I use this adaptor:

And this drive:

I think it should be related with Citrix Hub I have installed because my company policies... It make possible to control USB mounting (although my company says they don't control that).

Is it possible to restore Android USB driver or check if it is properly installed on my phone?

@Efg1

Might be the adapter that you're using. Have you tried using another OTG cable, like the one @Sant_XZR mentions?

I don´t think so, since in the other way (connected to a computer trough the adapter) is working fine: I can charge the battery and transfer files to the phone.

Hello Efg1,

I just tested and OTG is working with 3 different (Manufacturer) flash drives and 1 microSD card reader.

And it cannot be the update because I have tested previously with 7.0 and now with latest 7.1.1.

So the Adapter pin A5/B5 is typically not connected in normal USB Adapters, but If it is connected to ground pin A1/B1/A12/B12 (through a resistor around 4 to 6.8k) the phone will turn in a host mode (OTG) and will be able to read USB-flash drive, mice, and keyboards etc.

I checked the link you provided earlier, the website didn't mention about OTG.

Regards,

Sant

@Efg1,

I still think it's worth trying another OTG cable. Because this is a third party product I have no idea what its capabilities are.
