Hi, I've just bought a xperia xz1 from amazon direct.
Set it up today and getting the error in the play store.
This is Ian unrooted device and the bootloader hasn't been touched. IveI tried factory resetting the phone and imI still getting the same error.
I'm at a loss on what to do as it means I can't use google pay and I'm guessing i won't be able to use mobile banking either.
Solved! Go to Solution.
I have managed to fix it myself by installing the xperia companion program on my pc and using the reset tool built in to that.
This has worked for both devices.
Thanks for the suggestions all.
However, it's worth noting that the firmware being sent out on phone 'in the box' which shows as fully up to date by default is clearly broken as both phones had the exact same issue.
Also worth noting that I bought one for my partners Christmas and that device is doing the exact same thing.
I have used her Google account so it can't be lined to that.
Both phones are fully up to date. Has Sony scrimped out on getting their devices authorised by Google??
I don't see this problem with my XZ1, by any chance the phone was new or used?
Absolutely zero chance. Both phones are brand new.
That was my first thought with the first phone... Someone tried to do something with it and then returned it. But surely lightning doesn't strike twice.
@Dexy_uk_ can you check if any suggestions from here help?
