Since last system update, some apps (audioteka.cz; mapy.cz) have problem accessing the SD card, reporting the storage failure. I can however access the card through file manager normally. Any advice?
Hello everyone!
I'm sorry for the late reply to all of you, I have been out of office due to vacation.
@fluffygutss, Were you able to complete the software repair? If you were, how is everything working for you now?
@Kaycut, Thanks for the great information. I would like to know which device you were experiencing this behaviour with after updating your device to Android 7.1.1. You can find which phone model you have in Settings > About phone.
Thanks in advance.
@xevox, I understand your frustration, I really do and I hope this can be resolved as soon as possible.
At the moment I have no new information and I thank you for your patience.
@PathStrider, sorry to hear about this.
Could you please go to Settings > About phone and get back to me with model number, Android version and version? I would also like to know if your SD card is encrypted or not.
Thanks in advance.
I have an Xperia XA
Model number: F3211
Android version: 7.0
The SD card was encypted, but I have since decrypted it and formatted it to no effect.
Also, someone mentioned an app called Media ReScan. It can find files on my card but this still doesn't make them accessible to any of my apps.
As my phone can access these files, but but third party apps cannot, I can only assume this is a permissions issue. In other words, access is being denied to these apps.
Hey Jonas,
Hope vacation was good!
Software repair failed and ended up wiping my phone. Did a factory reset which hasn't solved the problem. I reboot my phone sometimes twice a day now when it becomes unusable. Navigating the phone is very painful.

I can't believe that this issue isn't solved yet. My Spotify app doesn't show the Storage option on my Xperia XZ, I can't believe that a high-end phone is having this kind of problem... Guess Sony was not so good of a choice after all. And I even have to put up with stupid preinstalled Apps like AVG Antivirus... Unbelievable.
I'm not sure if this is your first Smartphone or Android device, but Sony its the closest you will find to vanilla Android and with the least preloaded apps/bloatware.
With that said, what if you do the following?
Settings > apps > spotify > storage wait wait WHAT?

It makes you wonder, dont you think?
If it wasn't for the warranty I would have rooted this phone since day one to get rid of all the crap that comes preinstalled and i'm pretty sure I wouldn't have to face this issue with Spotify either.
Recently updated to Nougat 7.1.1 Compilation Number: 32.4.A.0.160
Xperia Z5 Compact (E5803)
Same problem of the rest.
3r party apps can not write to sdCard (same apps have no problems to write there in Marshmallow).
Issue still exists...It's driving me mad.
Problem resolved please see bottom of reply
This thread is making me despair that I opted for a new Xperia XZ !!!
After major problems with signing into Twitter and being unable to sync my Firefox account, I took the drastic step of doing a Software repair using Companion. This solved my problem, although it took all night to get my phone back to the way it was. But .....
I now have the issue with not being able to transfer Apps to my SD card. When trying to transfer 600mb of data to a card with over 50Gb of free space, I get the 'Insufficient Space' nonsense.
When is this going to be resolved?
Xperia XZ - Android 7.1.1 - Build 41.2.A.7.35
PROBLEM RESOLVED - I think there is an issue if SD card is specified as a backup location. I changed my backup to an online account, rebooted phone and now miraculously all apps were successfully transferred to SD card.
It works for me anyhow.
