Since last system update, some apps (audioteka.cz; mapy.cz) have problem accessing the SD card, reporting the storage failure. I can however access the card through file manager normally. Any advice?
Hi again @niederrheinr, thanks a lot for the great information and for the kind words about our software!
I have not yet received any more information regarding this but as I said, I will get back to all of you as soon as I have it!
Hello,
I have exactly the same issue with Spotify, Deezer and Osmand.
There might be a rights problem?
I hope, you can fix this soon. It's really annoying not to be able to save app data to sd.
I am former to use airwatch on my device.
During the week the phone refuced to register, i.e. No wireless LTE connectivity. I called our support and no lucka. I then did a factory reset. LTE works again but I cannot read from SD CARD like in this thread. I need to have secirity activities due airwatch. It seem though only Prefactory reset stuff are not readable. I also have a Z4 tablett. Same issue no LTE. Dont want to reinstall that one also ...
Hi @L-OWS, sorry to hear about this.
I have forwarded the bug reports from some of the users in this thread and I'm currently waiting for more information, once I have received it I will post about it in this thread.
Regarding your Z4 Tablet, are you able to use other network modes, such as 3G(WCDMA) and 2G(GSM)? You can change the preferred network type in Settings > More > Mobile networks > Preferred network type.
You can also try and perform a network search and see if you are able to find and register on your service providers 4G network. To start the search, go to Settings > More > Mobile networks > Network operators > Manual.
Let me know if that helps!
Hi,
update: I received a new Firmware (Vodafone Germany): 41.2.A.6.4
That one does not solve the problem, after enabling sd card encryption, apps no longer have access.
And another update:
Unfortunately, you have the same problem on the Xperia XZ Premium with latest firmware (Android 7.1.1).
Going for another hard reset ... (luckily, this was the first thing i tested...
7.1.1 has brought on a huge number of issues to a number of people.
I saw this forum and wanted to also post that I am finding various SD card related issues with apps also.
Mostly, apps using the SD card are failing to store data properly and reference it. (Google Music, Call recorders, Outlook (failing to store folders correctly), Games apps can't load.
I've been reinstalling apps and its not making a difference. I sure as **bleep** don't want to be reloading 30gb of stuff! Sony FIX THIS!
Hi again @niederrheinr, thanks a lot for the great updates!
I'm afraid that I have not yet received any new information regarding this behaviour. I will however get back to you as soon as I have received it, as promised!
Thanks again for sharing the information regarding the new update and sorry about having to reset your device again.
@fluffygutss, sorry to hear about that.
Could you get back to me with if your SD card is encrypted or not? You can also check if you are able to store pictures taken with the Camera application to your SD card and see how that goes.
If the setting in the camera application is not set to store pictures to your SD card you will have to enable this by opening the Camera application > tap the cogwheel > More > Data storage > SD card.
Keep me posted!
Heeey Jonas,
Encryption is on but my camera is already set to SD card and I'm not noticing any issues.
I am however seeing issues with my outlook and mail apps, they're having problems with other folders outside my inbox. When I try move emails or delete them it says folder not available.
Google music is also presenting with "unable to download music" all the time.
@fluffygutss:
You seem to experience the problem. Camera is not affected, I guess because it is included in the firmware. Any other (updated) apps seem to be affected, if they use the "standard mechanism" of writing to their dedicated folders on the sd card. Other apps, who have been granted explicit access to the whole sd card (like "Autosync Dropbox" for example) still work, too.
Unfortunately, right now you seem to have only the following options:
a) wait until a firmware update that fixes this is released
b) hard reset and use without encryption
Cheers,
Niederrheinr
