Having exactly the same issue.
Wifi on brand new XZ drops out all the time. Most noticeable streaming music from internal SD card to Sonos system. Same SD can in my old Z3 works perfectly, same again in a loan XA I've got for testing. Raised a support case with Sony who said I need to change the handset so Vodafone replaced with another new XZ, which has exactly the same wi-fi issue. It's not the Wi-Fi network I'm connecting to as it's exactly the same on different networks (home, work, other friends that also have Sonos). All tested networks work perfectly on the Z3, XA and Apple devices. Sony support asked me to send handset for repair, same handset returned to me noting that there was no fault found and the handset complies with "industry specification". I don't even believe they've tested anything other than connecting and authenticating to a wireless network.
Only common part here is the XZ. It's obviously a design flaw or hardware issue in this model, but Sony Xperia support just keep sending me the same generic text response about posting is back if I think there is still an issue. Why can Sony not test this on their own XZ and just acknowledge what is an obvious issue with this model and provide a timeline for resolution.

I Have exactly the same issue. My partner has a galaxy S7 and she has no issues with the home WiFi. Really starting to wish I'd just kept my Z3.

I had same issue with Z5 Premuim, hoping that this issue will not be replicated on newer devices but oh boy i was wrong. so much wrong . . .
Plus battery is draining quicker then usual and currently i am not using data, only WiFi. Besides the WiFi issue the most annoying thing is "double tap to wake up". It works own its own. double tap to sleep is fine. After installing dozensof updates no issue is solved. It's look SONY doesn't even care what we say

I thought that 7.0 more or less cured the double tap to wake issue? As for the WiFi problem, my XZ has never had that issue. My mobile network signal is forever dropping out though!

OK people after weeks of this I have found my solution. I went into my router settings and changed my channel from auto to 11, how to do this can be found on Google by typing your router number. I did this 2 nights ago and no issues since.

Is it just me ? I´m on the latest ROM 7.1.1 May Patch. Nearly every 30 minutes it lost the connection for ca. 10 secounds. Restart and safe mode doesnt help.
I´m on 5Ghz Mode.
