Any information regarding FM radio chip enabled or disabled in Sony Xperia XZ premium. If it is not, that's a deal breaker...

have you guys trying some FM apps from the store? perhaps the capability is there, but the app isn't preloaded. unfortunately I can't think of any app that actually uses FM, not internet connection, except for Spirit FM which is paid.
The FM radio on the XZP is missing. The hardware is actually there but SONY decided to ground the connections. So it's not physically connected.
Sorry to say there's no software apps that can enable FM radio on XZ Premium, but I use an old inexpensive DVB-T+DAB+FM+SDR USB-TV Dongle along with downloading SDRTouch & Rtl-sdr driver from Play store together which works fine receiving all FM radio stations available in your area or countries where ever you maybe. You can purchase these TV-Dongles online or you can just simply buy the Sony SBH54 Bluetooth headset with built-in FM radio & control the radio manual on the XZP , Even with all these other options I prefer if XZP had FM radio built-in like their midrange cousins. Like the removable batteries, FM radio is going the way of the dinosaurs sadly.
I have recently purchased a sony Xperia xz premium. The sony manual indicates that there is an fm tuner. I am not able to locate this. Does it exist on this device?
Sorry, the user manual "guide" does not mention any FM radio module on XZ Premium. The word " Radio" could have different meaning in different languages & regions, for example could describe cellular connectivity or GPS. An FM radio receiver is unlikely to exist in the XZ Premium I'm afraid, my devices includes Huawei, HTC, LG, Xiaomi, Motorola, Samsung & Sony but only Xiaomi Mi note of 2014 actually has FM radio & all other flagship smartphones purchased after that doesn't have it. Only Sony Z5 Premium & on current midrange level phones you can find FM radio, a very practical feature we hope all handsets should have. Cheers!
Thanks looking at wrong manual
I had a Sony Z3 device, now I have a ZX Premiun and I'm missing the FM Radio. will be possible that in the in the future in a release update software be enable FM Radio from device? Because removing features is not the way to go Sony.
I hope that listen the customers.
After hving the Z3 I have now the XS Premium and I am very disappointed that it has no fm-radio (without internet connection)! What to do?
Snapdragon 835 has in build FM Radio:
https://www.androidheadlines.com/2017/04/u-s-galaxy-s8-units-feature-an-unlocked-fm-radio-tuner.html
But:
"powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip (SoC) that ships with an integrated FM radio tuner, though some wireless carriers occasionally choose to disable those chips for a variety of reasons."
The question is about the way sony decided to disable it. And the reasons why...
Can sony representative (and not moderator of this forum) communicate with us and elaborate on the details please?
Hi,
I do not see any radio or fm app in my handset
Hi @AniruddhaRoy87;
The hardware of the XZ Premium (and several other X series Xperia devices) doesn't support FM radio but you can download a radio web app from Google Play store.
