hi everyone,
maybe this is a commun issue to many XZ Premium users... my hotspot tethering is not working since i bought the phone on android 7.1.1 and now i have updated to android oreo 8.0.0 latest build number: 47.1.A.5.51 and the hotspot tethering still not working...
i tried to connect my laptop and other smartphone to my XZ Premium hotspot, but it doesn't detect it at all. I even tried this solution: adb shell command: settings put global tether_dun_required 0
but it didn't work for me either!
ANY SOLUTION PLEASE?
thank you!
Good morning, I need help my unlimited whatsapp plan and unlimited facebook with the clear operator of Ecuador, it is blocked everything happened since the update to android 8, someone who can help me please, I would be very grateful.
First of all...tethering of any kind can be blocked by your service provider!
That being said, if your provider is not blocking tethering then you need to try it in safe mode to make sure that an installed app is not causing the issue.
If it works in safe mode then you will have to determine what app is causing the issue and probably delete it.
If it still does not work in safe mode then a software repair using the Sony Companion on your PC may be the fix. It is basically the same as a factory reset except that it does more than just reset your phone...it installs all new software. Either method though will mean resetting up the phone from scratch...sorry!
Now then, before doing a software repair, does it not work when you use a USB cable from the phone to the other hardware, such as a laptop, or tablet? There is really nothing to setup when using a USB cable. Maybe a different cable could be tried?
Does it not work when using the WIFI hotspot feature? There are settings that need to be configured for this option to work correctly.
Settings > Network & Internet > Hotspot & tethering > Portable hotspot settings > Configure hotspot > I recommend that you keep the Network name (SSID) that is assigned by default. Make sure to use WPA2 PSK for the security setting and use whatever password you want. Going back one screen...is "Discoverable" toggle turned on??? It needs to be turned on! Under Power save - make sure that Never is selected.
Also, I am going to assume that you know how to connect your PC or tablet to the phone to use it for internet access? That is a subject for a Windows forum. I could explain it, but not if it's not needed here.
Hopefully one of these suggestions will help.
I use both methods at different times on T-Mobile and have no issues at all. In fact, this is my only method for internet access at the moment and it worked great under Nougat and now also under Oreo.
Please remember to KUDO if I was able to help!
thanks for the respond. Basecially, I#ve tried to repair my phone thru Xperia companion, and it was done. and I did all you told me about opening the hotspot and sharting internet, but problem still persist. my phone is not shown as a hotspot to any device... i tried my laptop and even other phones....
also my carrier doesn't have hotspot restriction, so it's open to be used freely...
that's a big problem really... now i can't figure out what's the cause of that, and should I do!!!
any other suggestion ?
thanks
I'm having the exact same problem here and it's getting annoying . I bought my xzp a week ago and haventh been able to use it as a portable Hotspot at all. I really need it for my job and now I'm stuck, unable to get much done and having to deal with a lot of work at home. How can this be solved? This is supoised to be a good and extremely expensive phone. I expected it to actually work. Have you been able to solve the problem? Thanks
Hi, did you got any solution by Sony, I am having the same problem and it's also getting very annoying to me having such an expensive phone with the Internet drop problem and tethering problem as well.
I have Xperia XZ Premium.
I upgraded from Android O to Android P since then cannot use such function either.
Sony do something dam it!!
Mostly deleting the hotspot setup, restarting the device and setting up tethering again will help you solve your problem.
Thank you but sorry how you do you delete that?
Only there is option to turn it on / off.
Try to add APN type to: default, supl, dun
Hope this help
