Hello ,
I bough XZ like a 4 months back.
Ive been using the headphones that came with the phone and it had been perfectly fine until yesterday when the left earbud all of sudden had lower volume than the right one.
I tried looking for fixing apps on the playstore but it didnt work.
Tried plugging it into my laptop but had the same problem.
I looked through the forums but didnt find anything.
Help would be really appreciated.
so the phone is ok but the headphones are acting up? if that's so, contact the seller regarding this.

Have you tested the headphones on another device such as an ipod, phone or music system, to be sure the headphones are not dodgy? The headphones that came with my XZ only lasted about 5 months before the left piece was softer than the right.
I actually did. Its the Same.
I treid it on my Vaio Laptop ,Ididnt work either.
Funny thing bought mine by end of Jan'17 too.
I cant Now. They came with the phonebox.
Same here, Left ear plug produces very less sound than right ear plug. I tried applying other JBL and Senheizer earphones, but its the same, its a hardware fault. Shame that my 3 month old phone has earphone plug hardware failure without any reasons, a very bad qulity build from Sony, never buying a Sony Product ever again.
True. Its really frustrating.
Funny thing I remember this happened to me like 3 years ago when I got my Xperia Z and the headphones were working well for 6 or 7 months then this exactly happened again.
I really feel its intentional from Sony to do that.
So far I'm really disappointed from buying the XZ
It's not hardware fault!! If we assume in that way then they shouldn't been working at all. Check ur earphones for any moisture content or dust content.. If it seems to be clean.. Then it may be due to imbalanced calibration between both sides.. It can be fixed by a software update. They wil push an update when they acknowledge this bug. Older devices like Z1_z5 r supplied with MH750 which r very decent in sound department has this problem too.. But they r designed in that way and it's intended...when u take out the bud U can see a black lining around the speaker in which one side has wider lining than the other. I can't remember exactly on which side.. May be right speker has wider lining I think!!! (edit_Remove if any such lining is present) If this doesn't match ur scenario.. Then u should wait for the update.
i have the same problem and i think you play music on high volume
try to play music on low volume for a few minutes
@pravi: yess it is a hardware fault!! I used to be a faithful Sony consumer but for the past decades their products have gone downn the drain. I have a Pair of Sony BT earphones that recently failed me. And yes I've checked it on other devices as well and no there's no wax build up.
