I've recently bought the Sony Xperia XZ1 and I've discovered that the headphones I have been using for years do not work with the device. Only the 'official' Sony ones that came with the phone work. I have tried my old headphones with my old phone and they work perfectly, same as when I tested with my partner's phone. My old phone and partners phone updated to Android 8.0 over the weekend and suddenly my old headphones do not work.
This seems to be an issue with Version 8.0. I do not want to have to pay out a lot of money in a few months once these new headphones stop working. Sony, please fix and update.
I have also tried safe mode and software repair and the issue still persists
hello have you checked the compatibility of your headset?

That's just ridiculous. Why did the headphones work on my old phone BEFORE the 8.0 update, then suddenly stop once it updated. This shows that the 'compatible' earphones were willingly changed by Sony
well.. in my case, my XZ1 was working perfectly with my Beats headphone until i updated to 47.1.A.12.179.
well this update did fix my problem of data connection dropping when i move from place to place but this headset issue is a bummer. My beats was working fine with the phone yet now it does not. The Beats still work with my Z5 but just not my XZ1.
I do not want to reset my phone. Is there a specific app i can uninstall and install again?
I had the exact same problem. Beats earbuds stopped working after update. Managed to get them working again with the app "Audio Router"
Fiddled with the settings in the app and the buds worked again. My buds almost went in the trash, but discovered they were actyally working on my gf iPhone.
Hope it helps
Try headphones without mic(handsfree), just normal headphones. This solves my problem.
