Android Oreo Adaptive brightness bug

I've updated the new firmware a couple of days ago and noticed something wrong with the adaptive brightness.

It used to be slowly adjust the brightness but after this latest update, it's adjusting the brightness so fast and make me less comfortable to use it.

Sometimes it makes me feel sick. 😢

Does anyone have this problem too?

How did you solve that?

Or you just update over computer?

Mine was updated via OTA.

May be something wrong with that.

Did this method work for anyone else?

PS: personally, I doubt it will work.

You can give it a try, here's a detailed guide:

software repair using Xperia Companion

And here's a guide for backup:

backup using Xperia Companion

I have XZ Premium dual sim CE1.

Screen brightness automatic.

Brightness changes under the ambient light, but the brightness bar does not move.

It stands 2/5 in length.

When I manually change the brightness of the bar, it will move where I touch my finger and stay there.

After a clever change of brightness, the machine stops working.

Automatic brightness does not work.

I have to enter settings, turn off auto brightness and turn it back on. Then it starts to work but the strap is in place at 2/5 length as in the beginning.

Prior to upgrading, the slider bar moved along with the automatic brightness change. After updating it is always in place.

I upgraded my phone and then repaired the software via Xperia Companion. It did not change anything. The issue still exists.

Please fix this in the next update as you have promised to fix the problem with RGBC sensor, ToF and autofocus.

Same problem for me. Single SIM version.

Same problem here on XZP dual sim with ce1 firmware. Adaptive brightness is horrible, my eyes hurt after few seconds. Repairing via companion didn't help (and will not help for anyone who is considering to do so).

I have confidence in Sony flagship phone, please don't ruin it but delaying the fix for too long.

Same problem.

XZ Premium, single sim. Bought at launch date.

Very doubt !

Have no faith in Sony anymore.

Seems like old real Japanese quality got extinct as well as Samurai Spirit.
Hopefully nuclear war can change this World for better...
