Just wondering were you using a non-sony magnetic cable?
I see, if it's only the battery and it won't be covered by warranty (I've seen issues with third party magnetic cables that pull out the magnetic port), I would just repair it myself, as for pricing, I'll see if I can find something posted on the forum but since this is a global user based forum it might not be the same since it's not only the battery that has to be repaired.
