I've had the tablet for 4 days now. I haven't had any problems with it until this morning. I plugged the tablet in last night but this morning it showed the charging icon but it hadn't charged any (was still at about 55%). I unplugged the charger from the wall and plugged it into another outlet. The tablet indicated that it was charging again. I left it plugged in for a couple hours but it still showed 55%.
Troubleshooting steps that I have tried:
The tablet has a red light on near the power button. Now that the tablet battery is completely drained obviously it wont power on but I have had no problems with powering up or down. I checked the power input port, it doesn't look like anything is loose, all connections seem to be in good condition as well. I've had it plugged in for an hour and a half and it obviously isn't charging even though the charger seems to be working fine. Is there any other steps I can try before sending this back?
Mine is still charging, but I have no indication in the top right corner anymore since the last update. It also charges more slowly than usual. The cable or the charger are not the problem because I tested with other cables and chargers that I have.
Same issue here. Does not charge sometimes. Red Led is on but it does not charge. My device is about 7 mont old and probleb first started few weeks ago. Sometime s it works perfectly sometimes not.
Hi, I have the exact same problem ob my Z2 Tablet.
I have had it for about 2,5 months and the first thing I noted a few weeks ago was that it was complaining about using more power than it could charge, so then I turned it off and let it charge over night....over the next days it went completely dead just a red blinking light and occasionally a solid red light.
I have always endorsed SONY for doing great well built products but judging by the number of similar problems people have I think there is a design flaw somewhere.
Just think of it, first of all I am an engineer myself and if you make a unit that is supposed to be water-tight, why the f--k do you put a small very tight cover that is almost impossible to open over the USB slot. By default when shipped the charging cable is supposed to plug in to this slot. Judging by the size and construction of these covers/lids by normal usage and wear-n-tear these will be very prone to be damaged. I can agree on the cover over the SIM and memory slot because that is not a cover you will open too frequently. I mean the whole design and marketing of this Tablet is that it is rugged and IP54 water-proof but this cover is a definite weak-spot. Especially when there is a magnetic charging connector at the bottom of the unit, but SONY does not ship the cable for that.....you have to buy a dock then....come on!!!
I seriously think someone had a brainfart when they designed the charging part of the unit....or marketing just would not let them finish before they had to push it out on the market.
me too having the same problem with my one month old xperia z the red light blinks whn i plug the charger but it doesnt charges and after sometime it again starts charging i dont kno exactly wat is the problem when i took the phone to the service centre they say der is water damage on the phone and they have to change the motherboard...which willl cost around 20k ..
I also have this problem with my Xperia Z tablet. Sometimes charges without problem, other times not charging. Sometime have to lift it from the charging dock and put it back. Wait an hour and check if it is charging. Sometime will charge but very slow.

Mine is going back from service today. They wrote that they have changed the Usb port
I was looking at these posts and they all seem to be from 2014 and before. It is May 2015 and I purchased my Xperia tablet in February. I shouldn't have bothered since I barely touch it, but I picked it up a few days ago after weeks of it sitting and I can't get it to charge. I would have thought from looking at the past posts that this issue would have been fixed by the time I purchased my tablet. But, I am seeing the same things, chargin all night and getting no where, charging with it off and it still not working, etc. I really don't want to send it back so I was wondering if anyone has found a solution yet?
