Xperia X10 Mini Screen Brightness & Notification Ringtone

I just got a unit last week and I've noticed that the screen brightness goes up and down when I'm using the phone.

For messaging, I tried changing the notification ringtone but it still sticks to the same one. For example, I picked Moonbeam in Notification Ringtones but I hear Pixie Dust everytime a msg comes in.

Also, sometimes I don't get any ringtone when I get incoming SMSes.

Anyone else experiencing these? Any help much appreciated.

I am having the same problem with not having any notification tone for sms's. I have done everything I can think of, also wrote to Sony for their advice, which I followed but still no luck...very frustrating!!

I did the same, wrote in to Sony and got quite a quick reply.

Their instruction was to download the Software Update on my PC and execute it for the X10 mini.

I did so and selected a Factory Reset + Update. So far, seems to be alright but I'm still monitoring the performance. I think I'm still getting the unsteady screen brightness and soundless smses sometimes.

Note that trying the Software Update from the phone Settings -> About Phone did nothing for me. It returned a message that the software is up to date.

Had the same issue, and finally figured it out. You have to set up SMS ringtone separetely. Go to Settings>Sony Ericsson Application Settings>Messaging>Notification Tone.  Hope this helps

Settings>Sony Ericsson>Messaging>Notification tone. this wil held u change the message alert.

For brightness. Setting>Sound & Display>birghtness
