Xperia U not updating

Hi,
I have had my Xperia U since 2012 now and I tried updating the phone to ICS when I got it via PC companion as advised on the website. So I did this, but recently I just realised that my phone in fact did not update last year since it says my phone has the android version '2.3.7' when I go to 'about phone' under settings. I tried updating it a few weeks ago, but PC companion says my phone is up to date and there is no update available in the update centre on the phone. What can I do?

If your phone is or was locked to a carrier, they probably didn't approved the udpate, you have 2 options

1) contact that carrier/network 

or 

2) manually update your phone
