Weak WIFI

Weak WIFI

I just recently purchased the Xperia X from Amazon (US edition); I originally had a Xperia Z3 for T-Mobile. On my Z3, while connected to my home Wifi (5.0ghz), I could move anywhere within the apartment and never have an issue with connectivity. On the X, I can barely move 10-15 feet away from it and the signal becomes useless. It is slightly better if I am on 2.4ghz, but not much.

I have also tried switching on Developer mode and enabling the legacy DHCP, which did help a good bit, but the wifi performance is still far from what I would expect on a brand new phone, compared to my 2 year old phone.

Has anyone else run in to this issue? Any suggestions?

That's rather odd, is there anything obstructing the router? could you test it in >>> safe mode

There's nothing obstructing it. It's in the same position its been in for the last year and a half. No other device has this issue either (a desktop, two laptops, two tablets, and my partners phone). I also tried removing my case in the off chance it was that. Via the Netgear router app, I only gained about 0.02db signal clarity, so it's definitely not the case.

While I do live in a high-rise, I've changed channels to make sure I'm on one that does not have any other routers on them.

I'll give safe mode a try, but from everything I've read and seen this far, I'm not very hopeful; especially since none of the apps I have installed are any different than my Z3 and there's actually less, now that it's not a T-Mobile phone.

It's the aluminum build of phone. ANY metal phone has less reception to wifi/phone signal. My cheap plastic phones get better signal reception. They of course have nothing better in a versus war.
