Using Microsoft Outlook, both contacts and calendar, with Experia X10

I've just upgraded to an Xperia X10 and it looks like people using Outlook contacts and calendar are not supported.

I don't want my contacts and calendar on the Google web server,

Am I really that unusual in not wanting my contact list and calendar contents spinning around the world.?

From what I've read so far there are third party applications that try to fill need, some focused on contatcs and some on the calendar.

Also, that these application add an additional, unexpected cost.

What I want is for the USB connection to provide the ability to sync with Microsoft Outlook on my local PC.

If thats not possible, it would be good to know quickly so I can take the phone back and swap it for one that will let me use Outlook.

Thanks for any comments that will solve this one way or the other.

There is no way to sync with outlook without 3rd side app. Only way is to sync your outlook contacts and calendar with gmail and then gmail is capable to sync with xperia x10 easy. this is simple but in order to do that you will have to sync your outlook with gmail and gmail is online...so your data will be online even if you crash somehow you original outlook data you will allways have data on gmail. Android fun and joy..

Hi,

There is a application called Android Sync that, via USB cable, can sync Xperia X10 with Outlook locally.

The application can be downloaded from the URL http://www.android-sync.com/

There is also a application that is called Companion Link and can be found via the link below: http://www.companionlink.com/products/companionlinkforgoogle.html This is a 14 days trial application that allows you to synchronize  your  contacts from Outlook to your Google Account, then you can sync  via  Google Sync in your phone.

A .csv file can be exported from Outlook and then imported to existing Gmail account. (This only works with contacts.)
Please visit the following link for step by step instructions: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA102220481033.aspx

Try MyPhoneExplorer. You need the client on the phone and the program installed on the PC. You can then sync Contacts and Calendar from your Outlook.
