My experience with Xperia Z5 Compact is very positive so far and consider it overally as a great phone.
As typical for an Android phone - it consumes too much data in the background. Is there any way how to limit the background data for Whatsapp and Email? I know that in the Data Settings it is possible to deactivate the background data for each individual application, but there are just too many of them to do it manually. Besides, there are apps like Google Play Services which consume a lot, but if the background data is switched off for it, texts in Whatsapp or Emails will not come.
In general I would like to keep the data spent over the month below 50 MB.
So do you want to restrict background data for all of them and only leave whatsapp and email? Try the option under data usage and 3 dots, restrict background data and then try to kind of whitelist the ones you need.
But I don't think you can remove an app if the overall filter is set to block background data.

Thank you for your reply. I was not able to find an option how to exclude apps from "Restrict background data", when Restrict background data is on. Do you know where to do it?
What I am trying now is to set the smartphone to Stamina and then exclude Whattsup and Email from Battery optimization...
I think the first thing is not possible (removing apps from restricted data mode).
You could try with stamina. Keep us updated.
