I try to update my x10
I get a message:
"Could not update. New software available. Not enough memory, restart ur phone before downloading"
I restart the phone but nothing... same mesage again.
What can i do to fix it?
I am sorry you are having problems with your x10, but can you elaborate more.
Does this message appears on your phone or on PC companion while you are connecting the phone and trying to update it? Do you already have 2.1 and trying to update to the latest software or are you still running 1.6? Is your phone working properly otherwise? Just want to understand what is the problem to see if I or anyone else can help
Ohh, and what is your phone current memory space.Settings >SD card & phone storage > and check your Internal phone storage available space
If you have lots of apps installed in your phone, they can reduce your phone storage space and maybe that is why you are getting the error message above.

I too get the same error.. I am using X10 mini Pro. Having 39.9MB free space in my phone. Restarted several times but I get the same error when tried to update. Please suggest me a soln.
I do not know whether the following will work.
Since you are unable to update due to the problem you mentioned, do you have an option to REPAIR your phone?
A software repair should not fail due to low memory (logic).
Try PC Companion or SE Update Service to 'repair' (update) your phone (same result with lastest software). Don't forget to backup your phone data.
Good luck.
Cocolucho, wouldn't a factory data reset faster?
Just remember to backup phone data.

Sure, a factory data reset will def be faster in some cases.
I was going to suggest that next in case removing some apps did not work at all
When I did a factory reset on my mini pro and I imported my phone contacts back on the phone, it duplicated lots of my contacts some how. Even though I did everything correctly, it still duplicated the numbers within my contacts which was annoying so I was hoping to spare him from doing that.
It was time consuming trying to fix about 100 plus contacts I had on my phone, but hey... It is a learning process, right?
Cheers!!!
Food for though....Wouldn't it be nice if we can store apps on the sd card instead. My phone storage has a total of 211 MB.
Without adding anything and just with the included apps, my phone only had 131MB of space available.
So if I install let's say 8 apps/games like Angry Bird that hold 16MB each, then I would run out of storage

Hmmmm.... Why does user need to import contacts to phone if his next step is to update phone software? Importing contacts and restoring data should be after successfully completed the update.
Don't get me wrong, not my purpose to irritate anyone. Just being myself - being naughty.
By the way, like what you have mentioned, it's a learning process. =D
You are right! The user needs to get the problem with the software update resolve first.
Restoring data on the phone after a factory reset should be done after he has performed the software update successfully!
I was just trying to respond to your question (wouldn't a factory reset be faster?)
Don't worry, I am glad that there are people like you who ask questions.
The purpose here is help each and I think we all know that.
So keep the challenge and questions coming as they are always welcome....
Cheers!
Spot on! =D Hope that everyone remembers the main purpose.
