this is a bug that most X10 users, including myself, are experiencing

Some had been able to get rid of this by going to

Settings

               wireless & networks

                                             Mobile networks

                                                                           Network mode

                                                                                                    GSM only

for most people it does not affect their 3G or H coverage, for others it does affect that and they only receive 2G or G.

hope that froyo will appear soon and solve this problem.:|

2.1 is the last firmware update by Sony Ericsson

Dual touch, updated mediascape, timescape, etc.

Latest official update 2.1 (UXP update)

It's for X10a but works just fine with X10i

go here and download the X10a-2_1_A-_0_435_EW.ftf file

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935407

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825675

go to Flashtool and download 0.2.4

inside there will be 5 folders

                                   Custom
                                   Drivers
                                   Firmwares
                                   Loaders
                                   X10Flasher_lib
put the file you just downloaded into "Firmwares" folder
click on X10FlashTool (Application)
click on Connect (it's a button)
Select X10
Press Ok
it will ask you to connect your phone on Flashmode (turn off your phone, press the back button, then connect the USB) press OK
Click Flash

you can learn how to get 2.2 in this thread

ust having a meal break at work so taken a few minutes to try and help you with this

The phone must be rooted and

Install Busybox from android market

Install Titanium backup from android market

Install xrecovery from XDA

Did you try the x10HD version if not delete the one you have and give it a go first.

If the above is all done and you still don't have xrecovery then your phone system files are still read only if you don't mind spending £2 on an app

Install Root Explorer from the market then reboot phone.

http://www.androidpit.com/en/android/market/apps/app/com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer/Root-Explorer-Fi...

Open Root Explorer and at the top will be a grey icon that says Mount R/W tap that so it changes to Mount R/O

Exit to your main menu and open xrecovery, now install xrecovery from there and you should get the 3 green ticks

Reboot phone into xrecovery and backup your current version as I mentioned in an earlier post above.

Volume button scrolls up / down

Back button is back

Home button is select

Installing 2.2

Download  Beta3, Beta3 Hotfix and Gapps to your PC.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571

Connect phone to PC with USB and Mount the SD Card, create a new folder on your SD Card called 1Roms (this is so it appears at the top of your folder list).

Copy Beta3.zip, Beta3 Hotfix1.zip and Gapps 2801.zip into this folder on your phone from your PC then unmount the SD Card and disconnect the phone.

Step 1

Reboot phone into xrecovery

Select Install Custom Zip

Select Install Custom Zip from SD Card

You will get a list of your card folders 1Roms should be the top one open that

Select Beta3 and press the home button to install

When finished reboot phone and leave it alone for a few minutes.

Step 2

Reboot phone into xrecovery and follow above process to install gapps

When finished reboot phone and leave alone again for a few minutes.

Step 3

Reboot phone into xrecovery and follow above process to install Beta3 Hotfix

When finished reboot phone and leave alone again for a few minutes.

Step 4

Turn off the phone for a few minutes then boot phone into normal mode.

Download Titanium Backup from the market again and install it so you can restore your apps but as you have gone from 2.1 to 2.2

Install the app only don't install app+data as this has shown to cause instabilities.

Your done it now has 2.2 and you should not suffer from any issues, reboots, force closes etc

I would suggest that when you have installed all the apps and set them up turn off the phone, leave it for a few minutes then reboot

Once you have the system running after a day or so you need to backup the 2.2 version with xrecovery the same as the previous way mentioned above somewhere.

You will benefit from dual touch if you don't already have it from here

You need to install this using the Flash Tool

We are rolling out a new software for Xperia X10 (Build number 2.1.A.0.435).

Check at "Settings" > "About phone" if you have this software. If you don't, try to update with PC Companion ("Support Zone" > "Update").

Once updated, if the software is available for your phone, try to send a new message with +160 characters and see if the problem still persist.

Let me know.
