Sim error notification

Hello, I have had my xperia x8 since march and it has been fine but yesterday it came up with an error notice, There is a symbol with a simcard and a red exclamation point next to it. I cannot get any signal now. I haven't updated my phone at all, all i have done is re inserted the sim. It hasn't changed. Any help would be awesome, Thank you for your time

either try a different SIM card on your phone or try your SIM card on another phone

Hi thank you, I have done that and the other phone i put it in said that is is a defective SIM so I guess I will just go in and see someone. Thank you for your help
