Where did you get the phone from? It would appear that certain phone carriers are more helpful than others, so it might be worth going back to your carrier/retailer if the phone is very new.
You could send it in to Sony, probably worth a call first. I think in your position I would want the call logged somewhere to say that you have noticed this on your new phone even if you don't have it fixed, cos if it gets worse you could be accused of mistreating it and it invalidating the warranty. I read of one person that had a small imperfection on their screen and were told that it was due to too much pressure being applied and this was therefore misuse!!
A new product should be in FULL working condition and that includes the appearance of the screen.
