Radio Only Works When Screen is Off

Only properly used the radio today but could only get it to play if I turned the screen off. That's fine if you know the station frequency but if you are wanting to search for a station and don't know the frequency you can't do it. How strange is that.

Except the FM app should play nice with the "Ok Google" facility. Another reason not to buy another Sony Z series. It is a great phone but this, and other blunders, in add-ons and integration (car radio, SoundPal,etc) drives me back to pure Android phones.

I have a Sony Xperia Z3 with Android 6.0.1

A suggestion for sony. When "Ok Google" is activated, the fm radio stops working because the microphone is activated.
One solution would be to turn off "Ok Google" when the radio is activated
