power button does not work

hi i have had my xperia z for just over one month now after charging the phone i went to use it and i could not turn it on so i reset the phone and now the power button does not work but if i hit the up on my volume button 2 times it shows power down and when i power it down it comes straight back on also my lock mode does not work so to bring it out of sleep mode i have to hit the volume up button 2 times again can anyone help?

That seems strange, have you tried to do a repair of the phone software?

Start PC companion, start "Support Zone", start "Update phone software" and click on "Repair".

Follow the on-screen instructions.

Let me know if you are still having this issue after the repair of the phone software.

yes i have done pc companion just before i posted the problem i canturn my my phone off when i power it down it comes straight back on

Do you mean that it was a succesful repair of the phone software or not?

i did an update not a repair sorry because my phone just wont stay off

it says turn off the phone for 5 secs and plug in usb while holding down the volume button cant do it because it just turns back on

cool got the phone to stay off will see now after it repairs

i unpluged the usb it turned its self on and no my power button still does not work

During the repair process in PC companion you should not start your phone, the phone will start byitself and get in repair mode.  

First, hold down volume down-key and then connect the USB-cable to the phone (still holding down the volume key). Later will PC companion begin to repair the phone software.
