Phone Just Formatted Itself

I took my Aqua out of my pocket and it was in the middle of wiping itself and restoring to factory settings. I'm extremely upset as my last phone (Z3) was an absolute piece garbage that broke after falling from a height of only about 3 feet and I decided to stick with Sony and get the Aqua, because theyre a brand I've been loyal to since I had my first walkman. I looked around for an explanation and Sony really has no good reason for this. My screen was set to swipe to unlock so this did not occur due to a password being entered improperly.

Let this be a warning to prospective buyers: The Xperia line is TRASH. I owe almost $900 for a phone that I had for less than 6 months before it broke and I can't return it (this was after being promised that my Z3 had a shatterproof screen by Rogers). After remaining loyal i'm now stuck with a phone that apparently formats itself for no good reason.

I want an explanation from Sony Mobile and I want them to take these garbage phones back, I have no use for glorified bricks and shouldnt have to cover the cost of faulty products. I don't care how difficult it is to work it out with Rogers, take these things back and make it so I don't have to pay them off.

There's not such thing as a shaterproof glass on a smartphone, you probably misread, it's scratch resistant.

As for your phone reformatting itself, highly unlikely, if someone else has access to your Gmail, they can use MyXperia, Android Device Manager and/or MyXperiaTheftProtection to remotely delete everything from your phone; with that said, there are other means to do so, perhaps you have malware on your phone, that's another possibility.

It was advertised to me as such, I never misread anything as I was informed that the screen is composed of shatterproof gorilla glass.

Not unlikely considering a quick google search brings up a ton of people who have experienced that same problem

I'm already reaching out to them, I'm fully entitled to voice my complaint wherever I please and I feel that this issue, whatever the source, should definitely be shared with other users, and I also know that sony reps are on this forum.

I'm intrigued, could you post the source link of such advertisement?

You xan Google any issue with any device and you most likely find forums and or websites with such claims, Google Samsung Galaxy reformatted by itslef or other brands

Indeed, you are entitled and more than welcome to post here, but you want replies directly on your situation, something that only your local support can assist you with.

Gorilla glass is not shatterproof in any form, it is treated to be tougher then coated to create a final product that is resistant to scratches and in some cases oils and other residue.

Same thing just happend to me.  Phone reformatted itself.  tests are gone, apps gone, had to re-sign in to email.  Very frustrating!
