My mobile won't let me sign into things on the internet?

My mobile won't let me sign into things on the internet?

I have a Sony Ericsson C905.

I can get onto the internet but it won't let me sign into things. (Like twitter etc.)
I think it must have come with some sort of child lock on it as it comes up with a lock sign whenever I try to do it.

I've looked in the manual and a little on the internet and can't find out how it take it off.

Is it one of those things where you have to phone you and confirm you're old enough (not a child) or is there a code you can type in or something?
Would I ring Sony Ericsson or Orange (the network I'm on)?

Thanks!

The parental contols may be on for your account, so contacting Orange may be a good idea.I had the same problem with Virgin mobile.

Edit: Alternatively, there may be a problem with the security certificates on your phone. If you go to your phone's web browser, select Advanced from the options and check whether under the status tab, security is on or off. Also, under the Browsing tab, make sure that all the settings are on.

Hey, thanks for replying.

I don't know what security certificates are. And I couldn't find what you mean. You mean literally go on the browser? Because advanced etc isn't on there.

I've tryed phoning orange and it asks my type in my orange number and then cuts the line of when I do (wth!). And I can't even get to a point where it will let me talk to a person.

Staring to really get frustrating now. Slightly_frowning_Face

I meant that if you go to the Internet (browser page) on your main menu, click on options--Advanced: from here see what the settings I described previously are.

Oh, not actually on the browser, on the options about your browser?

I still don't think it's there.

But I've been looking around and found -settings -general - security -certrificates. Which then has 3 types of certificates trusted, java and client.

But I don't know what any of it means.

I think security certificates could well be the problem.

Do you need one certficate to be able to log into you're profiles or do you need one for each website?

How do I get them? I read somewhere something about downloading them but I can't find anywhere to download them from. It said you could sometimes download it from your phone but I can't find anywhere. It also said you could download it from the internet on a computer and transfer it but how would I do that? Where would I transfer it to (where on my phone)?

Thanks for helping !!

I wouldn't worry so much about these certificates--as long as you have them: if you view them (press select) there should be about 9 trusted, 4 Java and no Client.I think it's better to find out from Orange whether there are parental controls that need to be removed first and if not, you could run the software update service on the phone via PC and see how it goes from there.

Oh, ok. Slightly_smiling_Face

I was thinking that I needed to get one for the specific site (obv not then? Slightly_smiling_Face ). Yeh there's 8 trusted, 4 Java and no Client.

So I should ring up orange and say I think it's got a child lock on? The only orange numbers I can find are 450 (for credit stuff) and 150, for general stuff (I think). But on pre-recorded options thing there's only one option that would be relivant and it cuts me off when I do what it says and I can't get to a person on either. :S

Software update service on the phone via PC, is that the program that came with the phone, on the CD, that you install on your computer? Because I don't have that program anymore.

(Thanks again.)

http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/support/softwaredownloads/c905?cc=gb&lc=en You're better off going on to Orange's website and getting a landline number you can ring. This link has all the software available for your phone, from SE. Have a look and download what you need.Did you try updating the software using the phone only? You can do this if you go to: Main menu--Settings--General--Update service--Search for update.

I've already looked for a landline on the orange website and I can't find one. :S

Thanks for the link. Slightly_smiling_Face So what would I need updating? I thought it was pretty likely that it's got some sort of child lock on?

It's just a possibility that you have a child lock on it.Why don't you phone your nearest Orange shop or the one you bought it from; these are landline numbers which start with 0870. If you don't actually have a child lock, updating the software of the phone may remove the internet restrictions. It's just a process of elimination until you find the solution.
