Will the ICS update fix the issue with transferring apps to your ext_sd? I have an xperia go. Its seems that it wont move the apps I want to the ext_sd, I download a lot of apps and the internal sd seems small for me. Your response will be highly appreciated. Xperia go is an excellent phone, it will be perfect for me if It can move the apps on the ext_sd.
Very well written oneway.
I agree, this is a very serious issue and Sony must look in to this serious.
What I understand there is more models of the Xperia 2012 family that is suffering of this "file structure misstake" naming the internal memory sd card.
We are living in the year 2012 now and apps and games with the additional data is getting pretty big nowadays, and they are not getting any smaller in the future.
Its annoying when you have 32 gb of space and when you (try) install for example a offline navigator and maybe one or two games and you´re out of memory, knowing that you have 32 gb available.
So Sony Mobile have to look at this ASAP. But I´m afraid this gonna take time to correct if Sony ever will look into it. (Sony isn¨t directly famous for getting out updates quickly)
But maybe its easier to affect all the app developers in the world to write their application so we can choose where we will store the application data, in the wrongly named sd card or the ext card that actually is the only existing sd card on the handset.
Over and out. /A
the same problem is with all the xperia phones (new that is) ... the problem is really frustrating .... y is sony not replying on its own forum ???.......
Hi,
last week, popular german computer magazine "ct" ran an article regarding the SD-card problems.
Can't post it here, because it's copyrighted, but the bottom line was this:
This problem affects more or less all Android devices with more than 4GB internal memory and running Android 2.3 or higher (not only Sony). The root of the problem is memory management and naming-conventions in Andoid 2.3 and higher (some have already pointed out in this forum, that part of the internal memory is mounted as "/sdcard", and that is where everything that is just being "moved to sd-card" ends up - not on the "real" sd-card, which is mounted as "/ext_card" ! ).
At this time, there is no workaround, unless this problem is addressed by the app-developer (and even then the app itself will still be installed in the internal memory, only app-data will be routinely stored on the "real" SD).
Fortunately, at least the pre-installed apps seem to be able to do this with music/pictures/videos.
We will have to wait for a major android update, and i doubt wether at the time of the release it will be ported to current android phones...
I did update today but probleme with sd card stuck. I want to ask sony when you finally fix the problem?

This has to do with your phone having a builtin memory which works as a internal storage/SD card. In this case you can't move apps to the external SD-card. You can read more about this here: http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/406527.
