Marketplace download issues

Hi, I have had my x10 now for a few months. Had no issues with it up untill a few days ago. For some reason I can download apps via the marketplace when connected via wifi at home or work but when I switch to 3g I am unable to download any apps. Via 3g I am able to browse both websites and the marketplace. Im also able to email so there are no issues with the connection. The only issue is with downloading via the marketplace. Anyone have any suggestions to fix this issue. Thanks...

Please peoples... Does anyone know of a setting somewhere in the phone that will only allow me to download apps via wifi rather than 3g. I have hunted everywhere and cannot find such a setting but surely this must be something simple. Anyone have any suggestions.

I am fairly sure that there is no such setting specifically for apps.  You can turn off wifi or 3G generally (and specify that software updates are by wifi only), but not just for the Android Market, as far as I have been able to find.

Others might be able to shed some light, although most of the non-American world is probably asleep right now.  Meanwhile, I have just discovered when trying to find an answer to your question, that if you open the Android Market on your phone and press the menu button and then tap on Help, you are taken to the Android Market help page.  If you sign in with your Google account (if you have one) you can search for answers there, or ask your own questions...

Thanks for the reply sushidushi. I have posted a question on the Android marketplace forum and waiting for a response. I am wondering if its an IP address related issue. Thats the only thing I can think of. Maybe google do not recognise the ip range my provider has supplied and therefore blocking it. I just dont know. Thanks though. If anyone else has any suggestions or ideas feel free to let me know. Thanks.

It's good that you can access the market using wifi, at least, but frustrating that you can't do so by 3G, and that it is not clear why this happens.  Thinking_Face

try turning off MMS/Data in  setting/wireless control/ Mobile Network/ Data& MMS

Remember to turn it back on when you are done cos turn this off also means that you do not receive any text messages

Have you actually checked with your telco about your access to Market?

darkmax I havent checked with my telco yet about it. I have had access before to the market via 3g so I dont see why it would change. I will definately give them a call later today and ask if any settings have changed over the last week or so. highwayman turning off MMS/data disabled my 3g altogether so nothing worked then. Thanks you both for the suggestions however.

Tried a phone reset earlier today. In short, no go. Now I have lost the ability to download off marketplace via wifi too. Yay! Slightly_frowning_Face It rules out the provider.
