Is my phone locked?
Hi,
I would like to know whether the xperia M I got via ebay is locked to any network or even a specific simcard.
Calling *#*#7378423#*#* reveals a "Service Info" menu, that provides a "SIM lock" submenu.
The entries read
[x] Network 0
[x] Network subset 0
[x] Service provider 0
[x] Corporate 0
[x] SIM 0
The problem is, that on some webpages it is claimed for an unlocked phone it should look like
[] Network 0
[] Network subset 0
[] Service provider 0
[] Corporate 0
[] SIM 0
while others claim that the 0 is already sufficient.
Does anybody know for sure the correct interpretation?
Are there any other ways to ensure that the phone is not locked to any or all networks in my country.
I really prefer to buy foreign sims during holidays, thus I want to make sure, that the phone also works outside of germany.
regards
Sascha

From the info provided your phone appears to be unlocked for all networks in any country
Mine looks like the 2nd lot of details but that's on a Xperia S but the 0's mean open, If it were to have numbers like 1, 2 or 3 etc then that indicates locked and the number the network

The "x" means that the phone you bought is locked to a network so you may not be able to use this phone with your operator depending on what operator you use.
The number after each option tells you have many attempts you have left at entering the correct unlock code. 0 means that wrong code has been entered 5 times so even with the correct unlock code you will not be able to remove the network lock in this phone.
If it doesn't work with your operator i can only recommend that you contact the seller.

Thanks for the quick answer.
Interestingly we just tested the phone with an arbitrary sim and it worked.
Also it might be that it is only locked to any german net (The seller Debitel is a reseller for all german mobile nets), but according to your answer I would expect that:
[x] SIM 0
implies a SIM lock. Thus it should not work with any SIM, but the one for which it is locked.
Still it did work with an arbitrary german SIM.
Is this expected behavior or is the phone somehow hacked?

That's' very strange. You're also able to place calls using any SIM/operator?
Could you send me a PM with the phones IMEI?

It looks like your phone is locked to a network and that wrong unlock code has been entered too many times. This means that you can't unlock the phone any longer using a code from the operator.
I recommend that you contact a service location or your Local support to see if they can assist you.
