How to change own SMS Central number on Z5

Hi,

It is any way to get access to own number saved on SIM card? Old models (before android) was have additional menu available from phone book called “special numbers” stored own SIM number. And this number was editable.

I don’t see any option on mu Z5 to get access to this menu 😕

My old Siemens phone died, so I can’t use to change temporary sim number from my new SIM

Bit shame have lack of this function on modern phone. I hope that Sony developers prepare patch to fix this.

Hi @michuw81,

Do I understand you correctly in that you wish to change the SMS service central number (SMSC)? If so, you may try changing it by opening the Phone app > Enter *#*#4636#*#* > Phone information > Scroll down to SMSC and tap refresh, it'll present you with the correct format. Now try entering the relevant SMSC number in the input field, then tap update next to it. If you get an Update or Refresh error, then you need to get in touch with your network operator regarding this I'm afraid.

Did that help? Feel free to write me back if I misunderstood you! Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi. Thanks for answering. But, no is nit regarding SMSC.
Is regarding own sim number.
I get replaced my SIM card, the network provider switch my number to new sim. So if I'm making calls, simone is see my right number. But the phone in settings is seeing the temporary number. And this is not editable. Because of that I can use mobile banking, becase bank app is reading registered number from sim card.
On old phones, to get access to this number, you was need to go to phone book>special numbers>own/my number. Then just edit.

Oh now I understand, thanks for clarifying!

This number is fetched from the operator Network and is not editable like you mentioned, but have you tried removing and then re-inserting your SIM to see if that makes a difference? If it still persists with the wrong number, then I'm afraid that I can only refer you to raise this with your network operator.

Keep me updated!

I'm afraid you are wrong. This number can be edited, because I did this on my previous SIM card's on my old Siemens and Nokia.
On special numbers menu stored in the phone book sub-menu caled special number/own number. You can ad up to 3 numbers. First line is recognised as own number. Most time, network operator provide SIM with blank entry and then mobile device is reading the number from settings over SIM signal, or show unknown depending of settings in network provider. But if the SIM has temporary number saved on sub-menu then, the phone will be read first this number. And then network provider can not do anything with that.

I try remove sim switch off switch on etc. The number will be not refresh / updated.
If I will have adaptor from nano to full size SIM I will use my work phone to edit number. But I don't have.
Is so frustrating, this very silly option is missing on Sony Slightly_frowning_Face Even windows phone have acces to SIM phone book and sub-book Slightly_frowning_Face
So this can be done, question. How do this on Sony smartphone.
Shame, I can uploaded pictures to show example from looks.

I am sorry if I was not clear, what I meant was that there's no way to edit it directly in your Xperia I'm afraid. In this case I can only refer you to your operator for further instructions, or you may try inserting the SIM in one of the devices you mentioned which support such a feature.

I do not know why there currently is no such feature included in Xperia devices, but I will forward that as user feedback internally on your behalf! Slightly_smiling_Face

Ah I see. Now this have sense Winking_Face
That's will be great if you can forward the feedback. This functionality is still needed in many cases.
So now I just need ti find adaptor nano to full size SIM.

Thank you for you time.
Also Merry Christmas Slightly_smiling_Face
