Help X10 problems

I have just got a X10 and having a few problems

1st does the x10 work with PC Suite ? As I used PC Suite for texting via PC .

2nd can any one tell me where I can down load all info for mem card as I had to replace my SD card so have no help files or software.

I have been useing Satio and Vivaz up till now so finding it hard to get on with are screen lock up's common for the x10 ?

also is there a way to stop my texts coming up as threads ? As would like them to come up as text's in order as they come in .

Hello there,  I'll answer what I can - all answers are based on X10 large as you didn't state what variety you have.

Firstly the X10 has the updated PC Companion tool to use rather than PC Suite.

The user manual and PC Companion Software that was on the SD card can be found under the support section of the SE website. What other info were you looking for? Do you still have you old SD card to copy the information over from?

My screen does not lock up/freeze so not sure what kind of issue you are having with your phone.  It may be that you need to run a software repair/reset either via PC Companion or Sony Ericsson Update Service (this will wipe your phone tho so back up your contacts etc)

There are apps in the market that will help with the sms side of things, but I have to be honest, now I am used to the conversation style I wouldn't go back.  I have downloaded Handcent SMS app which is better than the stock Sony Ericsson one imo.

Hi I have the standard X10 not mini and I do not have the old SD card I took the phone in to get it unlocked with a SD card and it came back with out it LOL mu fault should have taken it out. But if you know the link to down load a copy of what was on it that would but great as I have looked and can not find it.

I get screen not lock up as such more delay like if I pull up a contact then try to phone them it takes about a min for the phone to respond and make the call ?

As for app's have only looked on the Play Now site for app's is there some where that do better ones ?

I don't like the conversation side as when you got to look at incoming text you don't know who it is from and easy to over look a text . Must be getting old and stuck in old way's always said these phones are for the younger generation lol

You can access your user manual from the PC Companion.  I did see a link to download it to your phone but can't remember where. In fairness tho I prefer to be able to view it on my PC so I can use my phone to follow out the instructions on screen.

If you are having screen freezes as described you might be best to run the repair function from the PC Companion Support section.  It will check your firmware and tell you that you are up to date and should then give you an option to repair if you are having problems with your phone.  Don't forget to save your contacts as it will wipe your phone.

On the apps front, where are you in the world as the Android Market isn't available everywhere...http://market.android.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=138294  this is the list of available countries.  You should have an icon on your phone to access the market if it is available to you, white shopping bag with green android on it.

If you don't have market access there are a couple of alternatives, getjar.com and SlideMe, have a google on your phone and then download them there.  They aren't as complete but it will give you access to a number of applications.

On the text front, try Handcent... find the original SE app just tooooo blue and not clear.  But handcent much better, have a look at their site online first to see if you think its for you.

It is a bit of an adjustment going from a 'dumb' phone to a smart phone.  But once you get used to it, you won't look back.  Any other questions, please ask!
