Hello. I recently got an x10. I want to connect to this wireless network but it requires both username and password log in information. I can't seem to find a way to adjust my wireless settings so that it will allow me to enter the information. It only lets me enter password information. I know it requires both because I have connected to it on my computer. I know that there are other networks available, but there is reason that I want to use this one. Can anybody help me out here?
If you go to wifi settings and scan for available wifi networks, will it not come up with the name of the network you wish to connect to, in the Network SSID box? If so, you would just need to enter the security password for it and you should be able to connect. Or have I misunderstood your problem?
I believe when you scan for a network and you choose the one you need to connect to, if it has wep protection all you need to enter is the correct password to log in...
I think I'm not making myself clear here. I'm also assuming you guys have never encountered such a wifi network. This network requires the user to enter a username AND a password. What I am asking for is if there is a way for me to be able to enter a username because whenever I try to connect to the network, it only prompts for the password. I also want to know if this is an android thing because I have a friend who has an iPhone and he is able to enter both username and password.
The username being different from the name of the network, you mean? If so, you're right that I have not encountered that.
I have seen various messages on this board abouty university students not being able to connect to their uni networks, because of the type of encryption, or some such thing, which isn't supported by the phones at the moment, but should be resolved when we get Android 2.1. If that might be the problem, I'll see if I can find such a thread...
have you tried pressing on "add new network" from the wifi settings on your phone and enter your username/password?
not all network security calls for a user name. this is true of WEP, WPA Personal and WPA2 Personal.
If your network uses either WPA-EPA or WPA2-EAP security then you will indeed need a password.
The phone supports both of these protocols and as has been said abobve. Go to the Wi-Fi settings and select 'add Wi-Fi network' you can select the security protocol from the pop up that opens
i'm using an Aino and I can connect to WEP but I couldn't connect when I set my security to WPA. My phone keep saying 'Out of Range'. Can anyone help here?
