I'm just trying to understand how you can advertise that you can take pics underwaer with the Sony Xperia Z3. This is UNLAWFUL and false advertising!!! my phone is brandnew - and now it doesnt work anymore. I cannot use the touchscreen and my screen is now completely black. I had to book my phone in for repairs and while i was at the store I wasnt the only one that sent my phone in for repairs with the same issue!!!
Really confused and disgusted!!! I just hope that my phone gets replaced and that i DONT end up having to pay for it
Yours in total disappointment
Got this phone about 3 weeks ago. Today I decided to take a quick shower with it since it is "waterproof". Well worked totally fine, took a slow motion video, snapchat, listened to a song. once I got out of the shower, I dried it off with a towel. My battery was at 10% when I got into the shower, Once I got out I noticed it was at 50% which I found odd. I decided to turn it off and turn it back on thinking it's a glitch. Well, it never turned back on. I tried everything, Power and vol down which didn't do anything except once, turned to the sony logo, black screen for 10 seconds and turned back off. Charger didn't charge it (it stayed blue and not red like it's supposed to). Opened flaps (conpletely sealed in shower and dry when I checked). I put in the mini usb and I got a red blinking light (notification light) and that's all. PC companion doesn't recognize a phone connected. I have it in a thing of rice and hopefully tomorrow it decides to work tomorrow morning.
Seriosuly though guys, what the heck. If it can't stand water droplets from a shower what makes you think it can stand being fully submerged. This is bs and I do nt hae a phone now.
To all the Z3 owners.. DO NOT SUBMERGE YOUR PHONE. It isn't water proof, maybe water resistant but not water proof.
PS Water only hit the phone for about 1 minutes total, the rest it was sitiing on the counter in the shower with music playing.
i just got a Z3 because after owning samsung s3 s4 and s5 i got annoyed at their perpetually bad construction so i thought sony are a good make as ive has playstations since the begining with little problems and being a hot tubs/swimming pool engineer it seemed logical to have a "truly waterproof phone"
But alas, only a couple of days old and i decided to shoot a lovely 4K video of the inside of a brand new, freshly filled unchlorinated hot tub. no probs there, vid worked fine so when i finished i rinsed it under the tap. dried it and put it in my pocket proud to be the owner of such a fine piece of electronics.
end of the day sat at home i thought id take a pic of my little one (as you do) but the pic was just a white mess so i loked at the camera lens and it was fogged up, then the headphone app started to kick in when there was no headphone plugged in. **bleep** happend in the 30secs or so this thing was submerged?
Sony please explain

I washed mine under tap water (when I bought it)and it survived. No problems. But I don't know why 30 minutes. Is this 30 minutes for lifetime or I have 30 minutes for multiple time.
Hi @yasser4008 Have a read of this link as it will explain the waterproof/dustproof recommendations for you :smileysmileywink:

@yasser4008 again with "life time"? which manufacturer has advertised that?

I hope my experience with the Z3C won't upset anyone but the device is Waterproof, I took it to several swims and I took nice photos.
1) There are few considerations, you cannot take it with you taking a shower because of the hot water and soap, hot water can make plastic flaps to expand hence to pop out and also few micro-millimeters of aperture will allow water to pass inside;
2) Regular usage can worn the flaps, a small scratch can be enough to make your phone not water proof;
3) Not all fresh tap waters are the same: water with minerals and residual can be tricky, they can accumulate near the flaps and move them to open enough to allow water to go inside and do damage;
4) After having a swim you have to dry your device and the flaps, some waters can provoke corrosion. Plastic can be corroded if not cleaned with fresh water, if flaps get corroded the device won't be waterproof.
What I said above apply ONLY if your device is not brand new...
... now one day I was at a resort and I was not sure if the Z3C was waterproof so I called my local Sony Customer Service and this is what they said: if you buy the device and decide to try if it's waterproof or you want to bring it with you for a swim, be completely sure that the flaps are completely closed and that nothing can make your device unsealed. If the device is perfectly sealed, you submerge it and if it get damaged then SONY has to honour the warranty and send a replacement device, especially if the accident happen during the first 30 days from the purchase date.
Hope this will help.
