I'm just trying to understand how you can advertise that you can take pics underwaer with the Sony Xperia Z3. This is UNLAWFUL and false advertising!!! my phone is brandnew - and now it doesnt work anymore. I cannot use the touchscreen and my screen is now completely black. I had to book my phone in for repairs and while i was at the store I wasnt the only one that sent my phone in for repairs with the same issue!!!
Really confused and disgusted!!! I just hope that my phone gets replaced and that i DONT end up having to pay for it
Yours in total disappointment
Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
I'm very sorry to hear that you got issues with your Z3.
The fact that you can take pictures under water is of course not false advertisement. Provided that all ports and covers are firmly closed, the phone is dust tight and protected against low-pressure jets of water from all practicable directions in compliance with IP65 and/or can be kept under 1.5 m of fresh water for up to 30 minutes in compliance with IP68.
If you have followed the instructions for the phone there's must be something wrong with your unit and in that case it's covered by our warranty.
I have also experienced a lack of any waterproofing whatsoever with this phone. I simply gently rinsed the phone with the ports correctly sealed and the moisture caused the phone to be unable to take photographs for two days. There was absolutely no high pressure water jets impacting the device at any time, the point was to establish the waterproof worthyness of the phone.
The point is that my phone is simply not water proof by any intrepation of the term.
Please let me know when this issue has been evaluated and Sony is prepared to handle my device for the recall.
Kind Regards!
same here
I'm sorry to hear that you also have issues with your phones.
It's not a general issue with Xperia Z3 and it's not being recalled. For further investiation and repairs/replacement of your phones, please contact one of our service locations. For more information about how to submit your phones for repair and where, contact your local support team.
Ok back it goes....
What happens when the brand new replacement phone also has the same defect?
What a waste of resources...
Not to mention the fact that getting the phone wet voids the warranty. HA HA HA HA HA HA HA H AH AHA .
Hi, I immersed my Z3 Compact in a bowl of water to prove to my colleagues it's waterproof. And it's absolutely fine thanks
Do make sure all the covers are closed nice and tight before you try this at home.
There's no reason to suspect that a replacement unit will not be waterproof. There's no general issue with Xperia Z3 not being waterproof.
If there's reason to suspect a manufacturing defect our service locations can do a vacuum test to see if the phone is waterproof or not. If the phone is not waterproof and water has entered the phone it's of course covered by our warranty.
