Disable the "Phone Connected" SEPC Window

Every time I plug my X10 into my PC or laptop, SE Phone Tools pops up with a windows explaining to me how to mount my SD card. If I close this window, it reappears about a minute later and will continue to do so until I quit PC Companion, mount my SD card, or unplug my phone.

Is there any way to disable this window while keeping PC Companion running? I run PdaNet tethering software and will also sometimes charge my phone through my PC. Neither of these situations require me to mount my SD card nor do I wish to always do so.

Either way, there should be an option within PC Companion to permanently disable this useless window (after a week of using the software, I was more than aware how to mount my SD card).

Hi,

We have noticed that your question has gone unanswered, we are here to help.

The reason this message appears is due to the Sony Ericsson PC Companion running in the background of your PC.

To resolve this we recommend that you close the PC Companion using the system tray. There will be an icon that relates to PC Companion, right click on this and select close.

However there is a system utility within Windows that can allow you to disable such software from running when the PC starts, to use this please follow the steps below:

1. Click Start and then Run (You can also press the Windows Key and R to bring up the box)
2. Type ‘msconfig’
3. On the system configuration utility box that appears, click on the Startup tab.
4. Un-tick the Sony Ericsson PC Companion
5. Click Apply
6. Then Close
7. Restart your PC

Once you have restarted the PC the Sony Ericsson PC Companion will not load up when the PC does but can still be accessed through the start menu.

We hope this helps.
