Hi,
I upgraded to the gingerbread thing last night, I lost all my data (even though I backed up in several different places) which is becoming the norm with these upgrades but I've kept my contacts which is the only important thing really. Unfortunately the phone has synced all contacts from my email and facebook accounts. I've tried deleting all of the contacts but they're still there. I've turned all synchronisation off but I still can't remove the contacts. I also noticed that my calendar has been populated with birthdays from facebook even though I've not got synchronisation turned on at all!
Does anyone know how to remove all of this stuff?
Thanks!
Do you have one good copy of your contacts for example on Google or copied on to your SD card? If so proceed with the following....
In your Settings>Account and Sync, ensure that Facebook sync is off.... there are two on my X10 each with slightly different icons. If you sync with Google make sure that the sync is turned off for that too.
Then go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications, tap on All tab at top and then scroll down to Contacts and Contacts storage and clear the data in both. Then go back to Accounts and Sync and turn the google sync back on if google is your preferred choice. If it is on your SD card then go to your Phonebook app and import them from your SD card and you should then have a clean phone book with only your wanted contacts on.
if you backed up everything with the Backup & Restore app then you can restore it with
Thank you very much, with a combination of both your answers I was able to get my phone back to how it was before the upgrade.
Glad you got sorted! With Uliwooly's brains and my good looks we are quite a team
