Camera problem, extra wide-angle effect

I got my XZ yesterday and the camera is constantly in a kind of extra wide angle or fish eye mode. When i try to take a picture of something straight, a table or a widow, the edge looks curved. I have tried all the settings i can find but can't find a solution. How do i get a normal lens setting?

Has anyone else experienced this? Is it just a setting that i can't find or is there something wrong with my phone?

My XZ camera doesn't noticeably exhibit this issue any more than the (many) smartphones I've owned before.

I also got this problem on my replacement unit.

First of all, front and back camera are a bit off center and tilted slightly to the side.

On the selfie camera, if i put my neck and chin near the bottom it looks like i have a larger neck and chin. If i move my forehead to the top it looks like a have a slim face and huge forehead like a cartoon.

Made a video with the primary camera pointing at my face and also the same effect "fish eye lenses effect". On the first unit i received i didn't notice this problem and the cameras were aligned. The problem i had with my previous XZ unit was overheating and a bit of dust inside the camera glass...

Really disapponted with the assembly quality of this phone. Angry_Face

this is a common issue with wide angle lenses. sony put in an extreme wide lense compared to other smartphones, this explains the fish eye effect.

At this moment i don't know if i should laugh, get angry.

Please take a look at the following photos and tell me that all phones do this (at least all Xperia XZ phones)

I've tried to replicate this with my XZ and have just taken several photos of straight line objects. All came out perfectly straight.

So you agree with me that there's something wrong with the camera/lens of my XZ, correct?

It would appear so from those photos.

Thanks for the reply. This is my second XZ and has this problems when taking photos or doing videos on both cameras and also the cameras are off center and pointing to the right instead of pointing straight/forward. The previous one had harware issues that caused overheating.

Guess there's little to no quality control on the assembly lines of this phone.

Sadly the same QC issues exist with all smartphones. I'm on my second XZ too, although I swapped the first due to a screen problem.

I received this one 2days ago. On this one all is working fine (except for this) and I can even film 4k for 25 minutes, something that I couldn't do for more than 8min on the previous one. I pre-ordered it online from a well knowned store in the UK and received the Bluetooth headphones as a bundle. I had to wait 2 weeks until I received the replacement. Do you think I should send this one back?
