Bluetooth power consumption

Bluetooth power consumption

I've noticed when I enable Bluetooth, it will use up approx. 30% of my battery in a day even when I don't connect to anything. Is this normal?

Hello,

yes, I have the same!!! It´s eating away battery!!! Approx 50mAh an hour! Thats 10-12 times what WiFi

does!

Must be an software bug, I installed firmware, switched on/off, took out SIM card, restarted...

NOTHING helped. After one week I got another XZ and again...

Looking at the statistics, I found that Bluetooth is keeping the phone awake almost the entire time it's running in battery. It is not letting the phone sleep.

Go to settings > location > expand three dots on top right corner > scanning > turn off if Wifi n Bluetooth scanning is on by default

Thanks for the recommendation. I tried that about a week ago, and unfortunately, it had no effect.

Hi @FredXZ and @FelixSHH, I'm sorry to hear this.

What kind of Bluetooth accessories do you have connected to your devices?

Hi Fred,

I use hands-free phonecalls for my car (from ZENEC) and a pulse-device (sports) from Polar.

Right now I have thr 3rd XZ and (knock on wood) it´s fine but I don´t know why...

I have the feeling that Bluetooth, once activated trough any device, is not returning to some

kind of sleep / energy saving mode.

@FelixSHH Sounds good so far. Slightly_smiling_Face If you should happen to experience this again, could you take a bug report and send it to me? I could then forward it internally for investigation.

To do this:

  1. Go to Settings > About phone > Build number, tap 7 times on the build number.
  2. Go back and select Developer options then turn on "USB debugging".
  3. Select Logger buffer size and change it to "4 MB"
  4. Restart your phone, charge it to 100% then use it until the battery is down to 20% or so.
  5. Go back to Settings > Developer options, select "Take bug report".

When the report is ready you will receive a notification. Tap the notification to share it. I suggest you upload it to Google Drive and then choose to share a public link to the upload and include the link in the PM.

@FredXZ If you still experience this you're welcome to send me a bug report as well.
