I try to connect my X8 with my laptop via bluetooth.
I am using PC Companion
The phone finds the PC
I click next on the PC to pair the devices
I get a 4digit code from the PC
The phone ask me to provide this 4 digit code
I type it in , click OK
and then I get a status on the phone ,that the device is paired but not connected.
Nothing else happens nomatter how Often I tried (restart etc.)
Any clue ???
Suze wrote "Can you send from laptop to phone?"
No.
How could I ?
In all previous phones I owned (Nokia ,Sony-Ericsson) after the BT connection was established I saw a new icon in Windows Explorer , such a USB Memory Stick.
With a new Drive letter etc, etc.

In My Bluetooth Places, there is an option to View or Modify Configuration... if you select this you get a pop up box and then select the Local Service tab and double click on File Transfer and ensure that it is allowed.
If you open My Pictures on your laptop and right click on an image do you get an option Send To> then Bluetooth>X8?
If you want to transfer files to and fro and we can't get this Bluetooth thing sorted you can go back to basics and use your USB cable and just use Windows Explorer and copy paste.
OK , From Laptop to Phone the transfer worked great.
But when I try to send from the phone to laptop I still get the message :
Sending file to Laptop......
..........Connection Failure

Going large again, boxes getting tooooo small.
I guess that's progress!
Have you been able to have a look at the configuration and check that file transfer is allowed there?
Did you have another go with the remote devices in the Bluetooth File Transfer app?
Weird things are happening.
1st.From where can I see/change the bluetooth configuration on my phone ?
In Menu-->Settings --> are only the basics (turn on/off , make discoverable etc.)
There is no such thing as "Allow File Transfer
2nd I don't remeber exactly from where but , somehow , I tried to connect from the Laptop to my phone via the HP Bluetooth tools
and suddenly I got the message :
Device 'E15i' does not support service 'File Transfer'
although , I started it on my Laptop.
3rd
Via the application Bluetooth File Transfer i get the message :
Service not found
You can't connect with target device because it lacks of the "Object Push Profile" (OBEX OPP) Bluetooth service
Make sure that target device is in DISCOVERABLE mode and enable to receive files.
Does this ring any bells to you ???
Configuration is on your laptop not your phone, mine was in My Bluetooth Places on panel on left hand side. There aren't any configurations possible in the stock bluetooth app on the phone altho there are a few things you can get into in the Bluetooth File Transfer app but I have never had to play with them.
On my Laptop , everything is OK
File transfer enabled ,that's why previously I could send fom Laptop to phone.
Anyway , I appreciate really your help
Only matter , why is File Transfer on my phone not supported ?
Sorry it didn't resolve the whole issue. There is obviously something between your laptop and your phone, certainly my phone/netbook combo is working fine. If you have the opportunity it may be worth trying with another laptop to see if you can get that working to see if it is your phone or your HP laptop/phone combo that isn't working.
The other thing, which is really a last ditch effort, is to run a repair on your phone via PC Companion Support section to see if this will reset the bluetooth software. This will wipe your phone so you will have to ensure you have things backed up first like contacts/sms, and then you will have to build your phone from scratch installing apps from the market and set up email accounts etc.
Many thanks again !!!
Just to know (from where are you posting) ?
I'm from the South East of England. Kind of assuming you were from south of Bristol or just a fan of the group?
