App Recovery ???

I was just wondering if anyone can shed any light on this?

I upgraded to 2.1 and have lost all my apps, I thought they would just be available to download from the market under my apps but that is not the case?

I did back up and restore before doing the upgrade, is there any chance they are somewhere on the phone waiting to be recovered?

once you run the backup & restore app, what happen when you select Apps to be restore? the more apps you have the longer it will take to restore them.

There is no option for Restore Apps, Contacts,system settings, mms, sms and call logs thats it

Most likely you dont have the latest version of backup & restore, that means that you wont be able to restore your apps through "Backup & restore" app

To reinstall the applications with the Sony Ericsson Backup and restore application:

1. From the Home screen, find and tap Backup and restore.
2. Tap Restore, and select the backup file you want to restore.
3. Mark the Market applications checkbox. If you want to restore more data, mark the checkboxes of the categories you want to restore.
4. Tap Continue Restore data.
5. Select the Market applications you want to restore, and tap Restore.
6. Tap Restore to be directed to the applications in Android™ Market.
7. Tap Install OK to download the Market application.
8. Repeat step 7 for each Market application.

Note: You can also reinstall your applications directly from Market, without using the Sony Ericsson Backup and restore application. OpenMarket and go to Downloads, and reinstall your previously downloaded applications. Make sure that you log in with the same account you used before the Android upgrade, to be able to see your previously downloaded applications.

I had to do the 2.1 upgrade again and now Back up and restore offers the ability to back up apps.

I think it will only backup the record what application you previously installed, then it will download it again from the Market and install it as new.

My original thinking was, SE will backup the whole program and data, so after firmware flash I could start where I left my Angry birds.  But it's not... Back to start where those porky stole my birds' egg!!!

indeed its quite annoying to start all over again with angry birds, when you have almost all the stars

Yeah.. and that's one of the reasons why I still can't root my x10 phone Unless there is a way to get the user data from unrooted phone..

I have had to redownload Angry Birds once I am not doing it again, there were a couple of levels and I got past them on pure luck lol
